Disney themed digital photobook/scrapbook?

Well Hello There Scrappers! I just posted this question on the Community Board and lovestoscrap suggested posting my question here... I had no idea this board even existed! Very cool! :thumbsup2

Let me first say I am checking out the stickies at the top of this forum to learn what I can about this topic. :)

I have been a traditional paper/stickers/pens kind of girl and am intrigued by the world of digital scrapbooking. These were the questions I asked in the last post.

Question 1: Do you know of a company that offers Disney images & backgrounds for the digital photobooks/scrapbooks (the ones you create online and have them mailed to your home?)

Question 2: Does it cost more to use the Disney-themed pages/images versus their standard themes? (I'm expecting the answer to be yes on this one!)

Question 3: Have you ever been able to use coupons/online promotions in conjuction with the Disney-themed pages/images?

However, now that I know I'm speaking to a bunch of die hard scrappers I want you to know that I am open to any and all info/suggestions you have for me about digital scrapbooking in general.

I'm sure that each person has different preferences in the digital scrapbooking world but I don't even know what the choices ARE. :) Is there a website or blog entry somewhere that you would recommend that will give me a run down of the different ways people do this?

Last Question: It is VERY important to me to be able to write/type in names and details next to pictures... for me, that is why I scrapbook -- to be able to preserve the story along with the pictures. The stickers and backgrounds are just a bonus. :) Is it possible with the online photobook companies (like snapfish, winkflash, etc) to "write in" on the pages or would I have to make an investment in some type of scrapbook software in order to be do that?

Thanks so much!
P.S. If it would help to know a little about my "style:" I am a "casual scrapper" - I go to a crop every 3-5 months or so. We've got a sweet baby girl now, though, which means 1) I've got lots more photos, 2) I don't have a bunch of time to devote to it and 3) scrapbooking seems so much more exciting now that I have a little one! I've always been a "function over form" type of scrapper (in other words, getting the pictures on the page and writing down the story has always been more important to me than each page being a work of art.) I'm hoping that digital scrapbooking will actually help me spit out albums faster (and maybe have some hope of not getting years and years behind) because all the designing would pretty much be done - I could just "pop" my pictures in and then type up the "story." Is that a realistic hope?

Hi Danielle welcome to our world!!
A number of use Creative Memories for our digital Disney books. If you go to CM.com, you can take a look at the trial version of the Storybook Creator
3.0, and see if the program works for you. CM does have Disney papers and embellishments.
I know that some of the ladies here also use other programs, and I am sure they can give you suggestions too.

I also use Creative Memories software for my digital books. I bought some CM disney digital kits and have also used disney kits from other sites. Outside of the photopass site( you can upload your own photos), I don't know of a site that you can make digi books with disney images and not have your own software. Maybe someone else has an idea though.

Thank you ladies! It's a BIG digital scrapbooking world out there... I think I'm getting a little more understanding of how it all works and I appreciate your input! :goodvibes

I have recently been inspired by a disney digital scrapbook I saw on the DIS. I too am interested to see if digital scrapbooking would be easier/quicker to get my photos in a book. I love to scrapbook and had gotten my first child all caught up if you know what I mean but then baby #2 came along 2 1/2 years ago and I havent scrapped one thing since. So do you buy these disney digital kits and if so do you own them per se so that you can use that paper/design over and over if you want? Also, how much do the kits cost? Is it cheaper to digital scrapbook vs. regular scrapbooking? I would want to then print the book and not just look at it online. I wish there was a class or something I could take on it!

Yes, you own them and can use them over and over. I buy kits on sale and pay about $2.50-5 per kit. They usually include solid and pattern paper, embellishments and sometimes an alpha. I also buy templates that I just drop and drag papers, photos, etc into so the page comes together faster. As far as which costs more, it's hard to say. You will need to factor in the cost of printing pages and either having it bound into a book or putting in an album. I have the CM software that I bought on sale. Traditional scrapping can be inexpensive if you don't use all the embellishments, cricut, etc. That's what adds up for me! LOL So I think it would just depend on what your preferences are.

There are lots of tutorials out there for digital scrapbooking. That's what helped me. If you are interested in CM, you can try out the trial version of their software.

I just got back from my WDW trip and would love to make a scrapbook (digital to print to home). I just looked at the Creative Memories site, but I don't see anything when I search for "disney". Any pointers on how I find Disney-esque stuff on that site? Thanks!

Unfortunately Creative Memories's licensing agreement with Disney has lapsed so they don't have anything Disney merchandise at this time.

But there are other Disney digital things out there, Pinterest is a good place to find links. Just do a search for Disney Digital. You can also search google, type Disney Digital Scrapbooking.
