Disney Tattoos

This will be my next tattoo which is set up for May...just need the $$$ now. I'm sure you've all seen these images before but my choice is Pocahontas!

In preparation for our big WDW later this year, DH just started his right sleeve. This isn't quite halfway done. Sally will fit into that space next to Jack, who is sitting in a chair. Lock, Shock and Barrel will go below Jack & Sally. Oogie Boogie is the shadow in the moon and bats will be flying out of his mouth. The mountain will have more detail and will cover up his old Taz tattoo from 20 years ago.

By the way, I've got a PTR started and linked in my siggy if you want to join in. :)

Before you get this, know some people will probably find it quite offensive. Cultural misappropriation...

Yeah I think the movie did that already. Just don't wander into a part of the Pohawtan nation and I think you'll be fine PP. Lol.

Btw is it any more offensive or of a cultural misappropriation than the half naked, large chested women that a lot of people get tattoos of? I really don't think so.

I think most people actually think about the tattoos they are going to get so don't rain on the PPs parade. I'm American Indian and I'm not offended by it. Granted I'm not of the same tribe but still.

pixleyyy: Your Husbands sleeve is looking great! How many sessions will it take to be fully complete? Looks like it is a partial cover up of TAZ (true?)... If so I find this awesomely Ironic. :thumbsup2

rosanab1031: Great points!

When I got my tattoo's I was told that people will look at me differently and would stop talking to me. I was told that as my tattoo's are skeleton's people would think I worship the devil... when I explained that they are Disney themed and based on the attraction.. and my left leg was dedicated to my kids and my right leg was dedicated to my wife (who are my pillars that keep me firmly planted), they still looked at me with lemon puckered faces. If people want to be offended, they will find a reason... is what I am trying to say... I like the image and see it as a strong female role model. Something I would not mind my girls seeing and asking the owner about. :)

Thank you...I too see it as a strong female role model, which is why I was getting it. That and I identify with the "choose your own path" saying underneath. I do also have a small bit of Native American heritage also, so I see where one would say they may find it offensive, but I love the fact that the character was a strong female lead. As a woman I find this much less offensive then the naked women men (or other women i suppose) tattoo on themselves. To be honest I'm offended by some of the shirts and such I see mean (an women) wearing because of sayings or images, yet I simply just avoid the confrontation

Frankly, just about anything anyone tattoos on themselves may offend someone, likely just the fact that it's a tattoo is offensive. So if I can have something that is meaningful to me, than why not?

Just found this thread and I love it! I really want a Disney tattoo but don't know what to get so I will be going through this thread with great interest hoping for some inspiration.

We're estimating 2 more sessions to complete it. Probably between 10-12 hours total time in the chair.

well said and Agreed! :cool2:

pixleyyy: It's looking great and cannot wait to see the completed design! Mine took 3 sessions at 5 hours each... After each session, I kept hoping the healing would get done quickly so I could get the next session done...

pascalstongue: welcome to the thread! Come join the club, it's a pain to get in, but it's a lifeling membership. ;)

I couldn't have said this any better! I agree that there are some people who just don't like tattoos and will find any reason to complain. I was over 30 before I got my first and that is a rose with both my boys' names in the leaves. I've gotten two other since and they both have meaning to me. The third is in my avatar - it's a large WDW castle and it was to celebrate my FINALLY graduating college (where we also took a trip to WDW to celebrate). All 3 are in places I can cover up if needed for work or show if I want to display. I look at it this way - they're on my body so it doesn't matter to me if you like them or not and it's up to me if I show them or not. And like you said - my tattoos seem less offensive to me than some of the shirts out there today!
