I've been trying to find a travel agent in Calgary who knows something about WDW. It seems that everywhere I go, my internet research seems to trump the TA's knowledge. Has anyone found a TA in Calgary who was able to 1)Answer Disney questions accurately, 2)save you $$ and 3)still give you the piece of mind that if something goes wrong there is someone to call??? I tried CAA and the woman sat at her computer made up an itinerary for us(without comparing price). Flight was on Delta which i don't like since i recently got burned by JetsGo. And she was trying to get me to PAY for a shuttle when DME is providing that service for free. To top it all off, her price was about $500 more than if i booked through the Disney website. What gives?

Welcome to the disboards! I can't help you with a TA in Calgary but I can say that by using the disboards and mousesavers you will be more informed than most TA's. People here are always willing to share tips. By the way, we are using Westjet to go to Orlando and I believe they have a special on BOGO for Orlando (our flights were free through airmiles).

Welcome to a fellow Calgarian
I wish I could help, but I have found same problem. I have been to AMA and talked to two agents, both knew less than I did and the package they offered was $500 more than me booking myself on line. So much for those CAA discounts
I tried Coop, walmart and the Bay , still more expensive and they did not know a much as I did. I just decided to go it alone and booked westjet's direct flight and my own package on the Disney web site. Still hoping Disney may offer the "at par" deal like last year, but I am not too hopefull. They seem to be offering less specials in the coming months.
Overall I think you are better off just watching this site for info and booking your own trip.
Best of luck with your plans

West jet does seem to be the way to go (though the flight time is kinda early 12:30AM?!?!). We're planning to go in May and so far there aren't any seat sales, prices are around $1475 right now for 2 adult tickets. Too bad there's no DING feature for westjet eh? I'm really hoping for some kind of deal too because i've pretty much convince my boyfriend that we'll be spending X amount of dollars. Maybe we can stay longer if there is a deal! Here's to hoping!

When are you all going to WDW?

We got lucky on our westjet flight in March- direct to Orlando leaves Calgary at 10:20 am and we arrive at 5 pm local time- so far cheaper than Air Canada's non direct flight and I would have paid extra for the direct flight- our flight back is direct too. Perfect when travel with two kids.

I don't think you will find a TA here in Calgary that knows much about WDW. DL, yes but WDW seems rather foreign to TA's here. Even for a Disney Cruise, most TA's that I've been to don't even have the DCL brochure in stock!!

I would say that if you like planning, you can do your research here on the DIS and book everything yourself or I would highly suggest going with Dreams Unlimited . In case you didn't know already, Dreams was started by Pete Werner, founder of the DIS and is a very good agency for WDW and DCL. Since I am a planning freak, I only book with them to support the DIS, I don't use a lot of their services they offer since I like to do my own planning but often they have found me a better deal than I could have found myself both on DCL and for WDW. They will also book all your ADR's and plan out an itinerary if you want, and these people KNOW Disney, they aren't just guessing what a good schedule for you is, they KNOW what is good for you.

We are off the the World in 17 days and I booked my Disney hotel and Disney Cruise with them and I am super happy with their service!

Westjet flies to Orlando direct twice a week on Weds and Sundays. This will be our first time flying direct and I am so excited!!! :cool1:

Before, we have flown via Denver, Houston, Chicago, Dallas and it was an ALL DAY thing, which I hated, you had to get up at 3 am and didn't land until 6pm or later! With Westjet, 5.5 hours later, you are in Orlando!!! :rotfl:

Be patient with Westjet, you need to book at the right time to get a deal, check their website for your flight everyday and eventually you will see a sale. We got our direct return flight for 2 adults for about $1150, less than the other airlines' indirect fights! You won't find anything for less than that, I don't think. I would have paid more for the direct flight, it is worth it!

Dizzywhirled, here we come!!
