Disney Studios thoughts

I can't imagine too many people buying a 1 day ticket to just DHS,its actually pretty insane!!The LMA stunt show closes next week and with the amount of people that show holds even if its only 2 shows a day I have no idea where all those people will go as I went last week and the place was packed. My theory is that a lot of people were doing the same as I was,I took 3+ hours of my day at Epcot for F&G to take the boat over to DHS and see the LMA stunt show one last time.In the last couple of months I've actually been visiting the park a lot,but mostly to see things that are going to disappear. The more things that close the more crowds I think the park will lose,I do think that the Star Wars fireworks are worth getting a park hopper just to see them.

For us , Studios continues to be a full day park. The things we/my kids would enjoy: all the Star Wars stuff: Launch Bay, Fireworks, JTA, Star Tours, the new show that's coming, plus Indiana Jones, Frozen Sing A Long, Mermaid, Beauty & Beast, Disney Jr., TSMM, Muppets 3D, plus the meet and greets

"They really haven't closed a whole lot. The car stunt show is closed"

Do you mean Lights Motor Action is already closed? It's listed as closing April 2nd. That's the day we're going to be at that park so I called to clarify.......is it closing that day or is that day the last day it's open?
CM said it's scheduled to be open thru April 2nd. Now I'm worried it's already closed and the website hasn't been updated?

It is not yet closed.

We have afternoon FP for our HS day, I was planning to spend the morning at the resort/pool. If I wanted to sign my kids up for JTA would I have to go in the AM to do so for the afternoon? Our first FP reservation isn't until 2:00.

We're one of those insane families buying a one day ticket to DHS. We are going to FL in the summer and my kids (8, 11, 12) all love it. But we are frequent fliers and have been to all the parks many times so we're not giving up other things for it. This time we are spending time at legoland, seaworld, beaches and one day at DHS.

My daughter is 11 and loved the studios. She loved ToT and the roller coaster, rode each twice. With the ages of the boys going I do think it is worth using a day of your vacation (might even be his favorite park).

Now if it is a one time one day only Disney trip then no the Magic Kingdom would win hands down.

Just to clarify, Lights Motors Action is not closed until Saturday. April 2nd is the last day of the show. A buddy of mine I race with drives in the show. We went to see him in his last show driving yesterday. Sad to see the how close. I really enjoyed it.

Driving into the park yesterday, we saw a lot of demo work already happening near Lights Motors Action and that end of Streets of America. The backs of a lot of the buildings were gone and you can tell they are gearing up to keep going strong.

Is it worth it to go to HS just for the star wars stuff (with 5 & 7 yr old)? Could we do it all in a few hours before we hop to MK?

Yes, easily... but if you hop to MK you will miss the Star Wars Fireworks. I still like Wishes better personally, but you can't go wrong with fireworks displayed with John Williams score...

To the OP- Just this morning I added the duration of the open attractions (except for Disney JR and Beauty and the Beast since I couldn't find the duration) it's 2 hours and 40 minutes. The rest of the time would be spent walking, shopping, eating and waiting in line (or just enjoying the ambiance if you prefer).

Also you can visit characters if that's appealing

I think it's worth a day, though we'll probably end up doing two half days there.

Though there aren't a lot of rides there I think the ones they do have are some of the best in Disney.

Fantasmic is great, and so are the other shows, and they take a decent amount of time to see.

I haven't visited HS in a few years, nothing excites me there anymore. But for our upcoming trip I have a fast pass to Toy Story so we are going back. I would like to purchase tickets for the Club Villian party but none of my stay dates are available.

You're welcome! With the age requirement (4-12), they require the child or children you are signing up to be with you and they will ask them their age and whether they can follow directions. When we were there early this month, they let those who wanted to sign up for JTA in before everyone else and directed them to sign ups. We were let in 45-30 min. before park opening and were back to the rope before rope drop. They had everyone who wanted to sign up for JTA lining up on the far left in 3 lines.

Good to know. Have early ADR at H&V really just to signup for JTA but if they let people in early to do that, is ADR worth it?

Many thanks, this is incredibly helpful!

They have been inconsistent with the way they handle JTA sign-ups. Sometimes they let JTA people in early, sometimes not. It seems that they have been letting them in early more often than not by what people are reporting here. If that continues, I don't see an early ADR being an advantage, and in fact it might hinder you if they let JTA sign-ups in and you aren't done eating. We were at the gate at 8:15ish for a 9 opening. We were 20-30 people back in our line, and there were two more lines for JTA people. We lucked out in that our line moved the fastest at the tapstiles. Less people in our line having difficulties with their magic bands so we ended up ahead of people who were in front of us in the other two lines but there is no way to predict which line will move the fastest, just luck. The first show was already filled when we got to signing up and we took the 2nd. We were back to the rope, right up front, before they let in non-JTA guests. My parents and grandma did not enter with us in the JTA line. I took the boys and got a spot near the rope while my DH headed back toward the entrance to get them when they came through. There are more shows and more participants per show than there used to be. If you are to the HS gates 1 hr ahead, you should be to the front of the pack and if they continue JTA sign-ups before rope drop, you should be in great position for rope drop as well. Even if you get to the park at opening, you should get a spot in a show, probably not the earliest ones or the one of your choice, but there have been reports of there being spots available into mid-morning. One last valuable tip, when they have the kids stand on a circle to get them their robes, if your child wants to fight 7th Sister, put them on a circle in the line closest to the wall, if your child wants to fight Vader, have them stand on a circle on the walking path side. They will keep them in these lines for the whole show.
