Everything is booked. All planning is done. We leave on Sunday. But instead of being excited, I feel apprehensive. :confused3 Has this happened to anyone else?

I think because I did so much research and planning, that if everyone does not have an awesome time I am going feel that all my hard work was a waste of time. :guilty:

My wife says to just relax and not worry about everyone else. But it is hard to do when everyone will be eating and going to the parks based on my research.

I know I am stressing for no reason. But it is hard to shake that nervous feeling.

Oh well. 2days 19hours 31minutes until.... :earseek:

By now your planning stress has probably phased over to are-we-there-yet anxiety and you haven't even noticed. Your wife is right. (I've been there myself.) If you keep worrying too much about everyone else's good time, during the first couple of vacation days you'll bark and growl at everybody and spoil their good time. You really can control your own stress level if you make up your mind to.

Just let it happen. Breathe deeply and count with me . . . one . . . two . . . three . . .

I say, relax, throw your hands up in the air and shout "whoo-hoo....I'm going to Disney World !" Have a fun, relaxing trip ! Everything is gonna be fine. Your work is done :cool1:

Relax...and remember no matter how much of the planning you did, YOU are not ultimately responsible for everyone else's good time. Part of the fun is Disney is being able to "go with the flow".

It does sound like the "Are we there yet anxiety".

This happens to me almost every trip I take, lol! I think that when you are the one doing all the planning, you feel the most pressure whether it's worrying that you may have overlooked something important or that you might forget to bring along that list of confirmation numbers or whatever. I make a list of everything I need to do before we leave and everything I need to pack and I check things off as I take care of them. This helps relieve some of the anxiety. Once I'm on the plane, I can finally relax because at that point, what's done is done and anything I have overlooked will just have to be sorted out when we get there.

Be careful about setting those kind of expectations. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time, but it's possible that something will turn out to be less wonderful than you anticipated. Or maybe, like me, you have someone in your family who just makes it his/her business to point out the one little thing that's wrong with an otherwise wonderful hotel, meal, experience, whatever. If something really does turn out badly, then just acknowledge it and say something like "I don't get it -- I really did my homework and all of the reviews of this place were very positive." Hopefully your family will appreciate the efforts you have made to make this a wonderful experience. If they don't, well, don't invite them back because they don't deserve you!!

I think a lot of us go through this same thing. I finally got it in my head that it's supposed to be a break from stress not a reason to stress. If we can't just relax and enjoy the results of all that planning, then why are we doing all this work planning this trip in the first place? And try not to worry about whether everybody else is having a good time because you really have no control over that. Also remember that one person's mood, whether it's happy or stressed and cranky, can be contagious -- if you are obviously enjoying yourself, that will carry over to the rest of the family, too.

I tend to stress before all trips, even Disney ones. I'm leaving Monday and yes, I'm stressed! Why am I posting here instead of getting ready to go? :rotfl2:

Of course, if I weren't going on a trip, I'd probably just be stressing about something else. At least this way, I get to chill out on a nice Disney vacation once I'm done stressing.

My advice is -- don't feel it's your responsibility to make sure everyone has fun. Don't feel that everything has to be perfect. I often find that some little thing goes wrong on my trips, yet I have a good time anyway. That's why I keep going back!
