Disney Store Permanently Closed 2020

Do you remember when Toys "R" Us tried to expand into malls in 2010 with the holiday toy store Toys "R" Us Express which failed and then closed because the idea did not go as planned? This is exactly what I think Disney is gonna do with the Disney Store areas in Target because the Disney Store areas in Target seem to be a smart idea and who knows maybe Target will open stores in the Disney Parks and maybe sponsor Disney shows in the parks. Because just like McDonald's has had deals with Disney Target and Disney seem to be a perfect match

Like I've said, concessions are hit-or-miss. They only work well if you have a solid partner who's willing to give up space for a Disney Store-within-a-store, but even with that, you don't get the feeling as going into an actual Disney Store, unless you're a giant department store, but then there's the issue of department stores becoming redundant in a world dominated by Amazon and other online giants. Plus, you don't get the CMs with the great service one expects of a CM, unless it's like what Harrods did, who had a dedicated pool of staff who received the same training as bona fide Disney CMs do. Then again, Target's corporate culture is modelled on Disney's, so Target does have common ground, and given how numerous Target stores are, they may succeed a lot better than the other partnerships did, as much as I prefer actual Disney Stores to mere concessions.

As for TRU, the smaller format came about in desperation as their warehouse-style stores were becoming rather outdated, and since KB went out of business, it was an attempt to fill in the void, but of course, the vulture capitalist debt killed off any chance of the previous incarnation bouncing back with these smaller stores.

Georgia is going to be down to one if that - just received an email that the Perimeter Mall Disney Store is closing on or before April 15th.
This is really concerning. If Disney furthers the pace of closures, then it's seriously going to cause harm to their strategy, because I've only learned recently that shopDisney offers Instacart on select items. If Disney were to expand Instacart, then the closures would set that back, and given how they want to diversify their online shopping experience, they need to maintain at least one store per state or region within a state or start building regional fulfilment facilities. Trying to run the online store out of just one central location while closing down many stores in even the markets that have done well prior to the pandemic is just going to backfire on them massively, because not everyone wants to wait days for their delivery to turn up, and of course, there are still issues with limited release pre-orders and scalpers they need to deal with.

Did the Disney Store at Willowbrook mall in Wayne, New Jersey close as of yet because I'm a former resident of that state whose now residing in North Carolina and the Disney Store Concord Mills in Concord, N.C.isnt closed as of yet

I was at Willowbrook earlier this month. That and the outlets in Paramus and Elizabeth are alive and well.

Will the Disney Store Outlet in Gilroy California also be closed as well? Because next to the Disney Stores in the Bay Area I was surprised to learn that Gilroy had a Disney Store as well. And did you mention that Disney Stores has a deal with Instacart? Because it seems shocking that Instacart is becoming the king of home shopping services next to Doordash. Where does Instacart pick up the orders now that there isn't no Disney Store? Target maybe?

There are a few outlets that are closing, which is very surprising given that I was under the impression that they were safe. Since the Target concessions are rather small, I doubt that an Instacart service through shopDisney would work, since that would require a proper Disney Store, and when there's none in the vicinity, you're pretty much forced to put up with long shipping times, and that's where the problem with online shopping lies.

Are any Disney Stores in Arizona closing too? What about in El Paso Texas as well?

There's now just one left in all of Arizona: the outlet in the Greater Phoenix area. El Paso is closed, and the entire SATX area has been controversially left without a Disney Store, with the nearest being the outlet in the Austin area. Mississippi lost their only store, which is surprising given that the outlets were supposed to be safe from closures, but it proves that the South is especially vulnerable to closures, given that AL and AR lost their Disney Stores years ago.

As I previously mentioned had Disney Stores merged with The Children's Place they would've been still successful and I can't figure out why Disney Stores merged with The Children's Place in the first place because I don't get it. Another odd thing and shocking was when my mall had a Disney Store right in front of it was The Children's Place and it was sandwiched with Victoria's Secret too and it was an odd place for a mall to do to a Disney Store. I also think that the decline in toy sales is the main reason Disney Stores closed as well. Because they would advertise sales like Tink's Treasure Deal Of The Week where stuff like mostly Disney plush characters were $6,99 and seasonal sales like Easter sales on Easter related Disney merchandise would be on sale but when you tried to get the stuff on sale the cast members would tell you lies and sell you the merchandise at regular price. And if you go into any Walmart Target or even Big Lots you can buy Disney princess dolls and Star Wars merchandise for a cheaper price than Disney Store but I am hopeful that Disney Stores will come back some day

The acquisition by TCP was down to years of losses stemming from the waning performance of Disney films in the cinema, and the need for a partner to turn around the stores. Although TCP managed to turn around the business, the debts stemming from overexpansion by Disney, not to mention a change of heart following a change in management following Michael Eisner's departure led to TCP selling them back to Disney, with the Hoop Retail subsidiary going into C11 during the sale process. However, while TCP did refurbish existing stores, there were still stores remaining in the legacy formats as well as the failed formats Disney attempted to introduce in the early 2000s to modernise the image of the Disney Stores, since even by then, the Pink and Greens were becoming massively outdated.

The closure of the Disney store at Perimeter Mall leaves only one left in all of Georgia.

It wasn't that long ago that we were in easy driving distance to 4 Disney Stores.
At this rate, there'll hardly be any Disney Stores left in the Deep South, save for the sole outlet in Nashville, the Orlando store, and a few dotted around Miami. It's already bad enough the Midwest is fast becoming a Disney Store desert, with IN and WI no longer having any stores, meaning that those living in those states wanting to go to a physical Disney Store now having to go to Chicago or Columbus.

I am not a fan of the disney store section in the Target that has it. Its a fun idea but it all stays full price till it goes clearance unlike the actual disney store that has sales all the time.

Not to mention that their staff aren't bona fide CMs. Unless you're lucky to get a Target TM who is a knowledgable Disney fan, you'd struggle to get Disney advice, whilst a Disney Store CM is very clued-up and can even give you recommendations on what to do in the Parks. I've lost count of the amount of times I got great advice from a CM, and I can guarantee you that none of the Disney Store-within-a-store concessions will ever come close to the Disney Store experience.
