Just wondering if anyone on the Cdn board works for the Disney Store in Bayshore (Ottawa). If so, could you please PM me...

Thanks!

I don't work there.... but I'm a frequent investor. :woohoo:

frequent investor - good one. I guess that moniker applies to me too. I'm also in Ottawa, and miss the Disney store at Rideau. Bayshore is a long hike for me, but I obviously still make it.

I know - the fiasco about Rideau not allowing Disney Store to continue renting was unbelieveable. Heaven forbid a children's (and adult!) store should not be permitted in a "fashionable" mall...

Fortunately, I live in the West end - so Bayshore ends up being the ideal place to invest :thumbsup2

Heehee - you all are funny! I miss Rideau too! Was at Bayshore today and Halloween costumes were all 40-50% off. Sales clerk saw me checking out very limited pirate selection and offered me a hat with dreads attached that was just returned. No others were in stock, so she said it would be grabbed in a second. Ahoy mateys!

I am a frequent visitor to Ottawa and had always wondered why the Disney Store was no longer in the Rideau. So the mall simply would not allow them to continue with their lease? I don't mind it being at the Bayshore as I have to drive by there anyway on my way in and out of town.

Yep - quite the stories went back and forth about The Disney Store and Rideau Centre. Here's an article that explains the outcome - basically the mall decided not to renew the lease with Disney. Banana Republic replaced it...

OMG... I just read some of that article... and... well,,,, I can't believe the quote from the gentlemen who feels we Disney fans are not sophisticated. Why... I'd like to sick Stitch on him! :stitch2:

Sadly, this article was one of the "nicer" versions. At the time, some interesting things were said about Disney shoppers and fans. Apparently some people have lost touch with the magic :sad2:

Thanks for linking the article. I think it is amazing that one of the reasons that Disney was kicked out is because it was not sophisticated enough. Like Old Navy is really high class shopping.:rolleyes1

I live in Ottawa and I didn't know that the Disney store left Rideau for those reasons. Actually, I am appalled at the comments in the article that state that Ottawa has some of the [highest educated people in the country and Disney may be passé for them]. I can vouch for the fact that in our house while both my husband and I hold Master level degrees, Disney is certainly not passé. I don't understand the link with education. Yes, we love to sightsee type travel as well with our kids and have had them to different parts of Europe and many spots throughout Canada and the US, however; Disney still has a certain magic. From a business point of view, I can understand the need for Banana Republic but the comments published surrounding the decision are certainly out of line. Loving Disney is not a function of intelligence or level of education.

I don't believe they do (at least here in Ottawa) as I have tried to get them before. If you are staying on property though, they sell them right at the counter in the shop at the resort and they are about $6.

Okay - when I was younger and the Disney Store was run by Disney (this is going back a while!) - I remember the Yorkdale Mall location did sell autograph books.

As mentioned by pixiedust! I have not seen them in the Ottawa location... You might want to call the store(s) to double check?

Good grief. How sophisticated do our kids have to be? I work across the street from the Rideau Centre. I always used to pop in the Disney store to see what I could find to amuse me, I mean my children. ;)

It has been an inconvenience not having the store here (I never realized why it left. I went on maternity leave and when I came back it was gone :(). I'm in the mall daily and I can tell you that visit Banana Republic a lot less than I visited the Disney store.

Bayhore is just too friggin' far.

And I'm sophisticated thank you very much!

Obviously Mr. Nabatian is not one of the highly educated or he would not have made such a stupid decision. Narrowing your projected target to not include families does not sound too sophisticated to me!

I think I've seen a limited variety along the back wall.

You know, one could definately argue that Minnie Mouse is a very sophisticated lady... I mean, did you see the amount of outfits she has? And what about her shoe collection!?!

At least she's not trying to hard unlike some ladies from Ottawa I know! ;)
