This is a really sore subject with me. I've read posts on these boards and on others discussing the same issue. I called my local TDS 3 times and was told that YES, I could use GC and buy Disney Dollars. So, I purchased $75 worth of GC through Mypoints (I was still a little leary and didn't want to get stuck with hundreds of $$$s worth of GC), took them to the store and guess what, they wouldn't let me use them. The manager wanted to know the name of the person I spoke to. I explained I called three different times and spoke with three different CMs who all stated that I would be allowed. The Manager then got snotty and said, "Well, they're wrong!" The store was crowded and my DH was in a hurry, so I didn't press the issue. Out of curiosity, I called the same TDS several minutes ago and guess what the answer was when I asked them the same question.....YES! This infuriates me. The closest store to me is about 45 minutes away from me. I had specifically gone to the mall only to visit TDS and get Disney Dollars.
As LoriKay has stated, it would be nice if there would be a definite policy on this issue.
Maleficent1959 I understand what you are saying, but I've worked in retail and there is no excuse for managers to not know the rules. It is the managers responsibility to follow proper proceedure. If it is something that isn't allowed, it should be made clear to ALL employees. Maybe the cash register could be programed to not allow GC to be used as tender on certain transactions.
Just my thoughts.
