Disney Store Disneyland park hoppers upgradable to AP?

Does anyone know if Disneyland park hopper tickets purchased at Disney Store can be used to upgrade to annual pass?

I recall reading a thread somewhere about people having difficulties with using tickets bought from the Disney Store, but I don't remember the exact context. Were the difficulties related to upgrading to annual pass or something else?

Any help will be appreciated.

No problem! Make sure to take your receipt and plastic Disney Store Voucher and redeem it for the real park hopper. That will get you into the park. You can use the park hopper and upgrade anytime during your stay. When you enter the park there is a bank to your right and that is where you will upgrade. Two things to consider. #1. If you buy a Deluxe and you are going on a blocked day you might not want to upgrade until after the blocked day has been used on your park hopper (this will save you $30). #2 If you want the dining discounts then you will want to upgrade soon. We did not upgade until our last day and could have saved some money on dining.

Point is you can upgrade your hopper at any time.

Could you (or anyone familiar with AP signup) please walk me through the process of signing up for the annual pass at the Disneyland booth? I'm a SoCal resident. Will they ask me for my drivers license? Will I need to fill out any forms with name, physical address, etc?

My girlfriend and I bought our AP vouchers at the Disney Store, and had no problems activating it. We showed our vouchers at the gates, and they told us to go directly to the Main St Bank for processing. In there, they asked for our drivers licenses and inputted our names, addresses, and phone numbers (not sure about the last one) into the computer. The CM didn't really say anything about how we needed to be SoCal residents for the SoCal AP, but I assume she looked anyway.

The next time we visted, we went to the ticket booth and bought a blackout day ticket for my girlfriends SoCal select AP. The lady at the ticket booth even mentioned that we could upgrade her AP minus the cost of the blackout day ticket at Main St. At the gates, I think the CM scanned both the AP and the blackout day ticket. In the bank, we showed both the AP and the blackout day ticket to the CM, told her we wanted to upgrade, and she took care of it with no problems.
