Went to my Disney Outlet Store in Jackson, NJ and they are charging for gift boxes now. Is anyone elses store charging for boxes?

DD bought a mickey head cup with the lid and straw there last week and the guy put it in a box without my asking.

ETA, maybe because it was an outlet?

Yes, the one in Columbia, MD started charging, too, and that isn't an outlet. The CM told me it was a "trial" and that some stores have been doing it for a while.

I went to the outlet in Lancaster, PA and they were going to charge me for a gift box. They said it was because it was an outlet, but maybe they're mistaken/misinformed?? Anyhow, I told them to keep the bathing suit/rash guard set I was buying because it was the exact same price as the regular Disney Store so I didn't want to pay for the box.

I haven't gone back to the regular Disney Store to buy the suit yet, since I won't need it for the birthday party until mid-July, but I thought it was really chintzy. And the clerk was giving me a strong dose of attitude that really turned me off besides.

Wow - there's a Disney outlet in Jackson? Sheesh. I didn't know that...

Road trip! =)

when I went to Lancaster for my Bday in May, I saw a sign in the Disney store in the outlets stating that they were now charging for boxes. The CM stated that they had just started charging for them w/in the last week (so around the 7thish of May). When I went to our local Disney store at the mall, I went there to see to if they were charging for the boxes and they said they were. Didn't inquire if it was a regional thing or not as I never thought about it. I think it was a bad move on their part. They'd have been better to raise their prices a little to absorb the cost. but most people are sick of being nickeled and dimed to death. I know I am. And I would buy a gift bag at the Dollar store before I'd pay for a box at the retail store. Just my .02 though...:goodvibes

The Disney Outlet in Vaughan Mills has been charging for boxes for awhile. I am not sure about the regular stores as this is my closest Disney store.

At my store (an outlet) we started charging for boxes about a month ago. I haven't sold one! haha I questioned it and they told me that with some of our stuff so cheap and then giving free boxes (that have the tissue paper in them already) it really was a loss. I mean-some of our shirts are less than 2$!!

Honestly, that kinda makes sense.

Won't be a big deal for me......no reason to me, that a shirt can't just simply be tossed in a bag.

Plus, I'm one of those weirdos who likes to wrap shirts (as presents) without a box.....if you include a different shaped item with it, it helps add to the....Hmm....wonder what this gift is.

A shirt in a box.....come on, everyone knows that box is clothes. My 4-year old son has quickly figured out that game.

bolding is mine...
WOW! that must be nice. I have shopped at many Disney stores over the years (prob about 15 different ones at various times). Never have I gotten even one sheet of tissue. Yours sounds like a very nice store. :goodvibes

I know we aren't talking about The Children's Place but just wanted to share...

I work at The Children's Place Outlet in Hershey, PA and we no longer give out gift boxes either (we only had them during the holidays). The reason TCP is no longer providing them is because a large gift box costs .89 and when selling clothing for 2.99, 1.99 and sometimes even .99 it just isn't profitable for the company to supply gift boxes. I'm sure the case is very similar for the Disney Store.

I'm not surprised in an outlet store to be honest. I won't buy one but I understand they are losing money on them.

I work at a TDS outside of Chicago and we haven't started charging for gift boxes. I know they are a test run at the outlet stores and from what I heard from one of my managers is that they are doing really well too. I am guessing it won't be long until all of the Disney Stores will be charging for boxes.

we have a store in va beach. Lynnhaven mall. they are charging for the box.
but the recycleable bag is only what a dollar? its cheaper and better!
just an idea :confused3
