Disney Stock Question

A close friend of the family wants to buy my kids Disney Stock. Are there any perks they can get through owning stock?(besides the awesome thrill of ownership!)

Not really. You get a very nice annual report and you are entitled to go to the annual shareholders meeting -- just as any other shareholder is. You get to vote for the board of directors, etc. And you can expect somewhere around a whopping $.19 per share dividend if the company continues to do well. If you're looking for major park or hotel discounts, they're not to be had by the typical shareholder.

Actually, it's $.27 /share paid annually in January.

That stinks this year it had PotC on the front and a whole bunch of good coming stuff inside.

We did the ONESHARE for DD and she loved it and has it hanging in Her room you can see it in my SIG Tink Room.

we did oneshare for our oldest son also. we keep saying we have to get it for the other two but never get around to it. their birthdays are coming up so i guess i will order them this time.

How did you buy just one share? Don't you have to pay extra to buy just a share? What is the cost?

It makes for a different gift. you get the stock certificate and you can have it framed. There is like a fourty dollar fee plus the stock prce and framing option you choose. They have quite a few companies to choose from.

They did stop automatically sending out the Annual Report and other publications to shareholders who gave them email addresses, opting to send links to online versions of the publications instead; but, you can request a free copy of any of the publications on the investor relations section of the Disney website.

Where do you go for this? I found the Investor Relations section, but all I see is the ability to view a PDF of the annual report. How do you actually request a real annual report to be sent to you?

On the page where you can view the annual report, there is a menu on the side that says:
Financial Information
Annual Reports
Quarterly Earnings Reports
Company Filings
Order Financials
Financial Reconciliation
Certifications

Select 'Order Financials' and you are brought to a page where it lists a lot of files to view online (again!), but has a button at the bottom marked 'Order Hardcopy'. Click that, and you can order any of the listed documents to be sent to you, and there is also an email address to order older ones not listed.

My girls gave me a share of framed Disney stock for my 50th birthday and needless to say it is my favorite present I have ever received. It is hanging in its place of honor right beside my computer. They also had a gold plaque placed under it in the frame that says Disney Princess in Training and my name and birthday. I cherish it!!! Of course, this gives me the great excuse to go to WDW to check and make sure they are taking care of "my company". As a stockholder, I feel it is my duty to keep an eye on things!!!

We have shares for both kids and receive two annual reports every year. When Disney first went to online reports, I requested that we continue to receive the Annual Report booklet. We keep them because of the great photos and artwork they have.
