Disney Stock - Anyone think it'll go up again?

I bought mine a LONG time ago, so I'm still ever-so-slightly ahead, but sheesh. To go from nearly $200 per share to $85-ish is pretty crazy. Anyone else holding on & hoping for a miracle?

I bought at the wrong time.

I am still holding, but I am sold the majority before the fall.

Eventually, I think it will go back up. Disney is currently caught in a perfect storm of circumstances that are dragging it down. I think eventually much of it will get worked out and streaming will become profitable, the writer's strike will end, they'll find the sweet spot for movies again, they'll fix some of the issues with the parks (and FL politics will probably swing the other way after a while -- the pendulum always moves), and they'll find a way to deal with ESPN, either by dumping it or finding partnerships to share the cost load.

That said, I bought mine so long ago it could drop a lot more and I'd still be ahead. But yeah, it's disheartening.

What goes down, must go up.....

I'd like it to hurt Iger's wallet a bit longer before it does. Then maybe he can understand who is being "unreasonable" and who actually does the work to make Disney profitable in the first place.

No. I hear Iger is going to break Disney up into parts and sell them off. I think Disney's best days are behind them. It breaks my heart to say that.

You're not the first person who's said that unfortunately.

I know people laugh when they hear "Walt is probably rolling in his grave" but I think that would be true in this case.

I don't think he's going to "break Disney up" but he may be looking to sell certain segments, like ABC. He is open to it anyway, that doesn't mean there is even an interested buyer. I think they are sticking with ESPN for now, so that may be much ado about nothing. The core businesses aren't going anywhere though.

Hopefully Disney will give up the Woke projects and go back to the family entertainment that they are known for. If that happens, the stock will improve.

I agree with you 100%. They should stick to business and stay out of the messy stuff. It might also be nice if they came up with some new material for their movies instead of all the remakes.

For now, I'm holding on, if I sell now I will lose some, if I hold on maybe it will go back up. I just wish I had bought many years ago before everything went so sideways.

I bought various times a LONT LONG time ago and there have been multiple splits which makes my cost basis $10 a share, so I am ahead of the game, but not as far ahead as I was when it was closer to $200 a share.` We'll see what actions they take, if they sell off parts of their business we may end up with shares in another company too.

Word of the day is indulgence. Disney used to be all about indulging fans and what makes fans happy but it morphed into a place that is all about indulging the execs who get paid out of it but do not put money into it.

There is still a solid brand there and Gen Z kids who grew up with it are now coming of age and should be starting families of their own soon. Best guess is these new adults with their own income are looking to recapture what they experienced as kids and it will either be there for them or not. Right now WDW has priced out this whole age group, my kids with good jobs would still need us to foot a big portion of the bill to go back. This was very different from the 90s when I was in my 20s & could snag $99 tickets with KIWI, grab a hotel for $100-$200 a night, get tickets, scrimp on meals and tie the bow on around $1000. This trip for the fall I am recreating my honeymoon and DH & I are up to around $5500 for half the time at the same original moderate not including any food.

Everyone sees the writing on the wall, especially investors, so either the brand will revert back to what so many people fell in love in with and rebuild the customer and fan base or they won't.

Every guest that walks in those gates can be a repeat customer or a never again customer. The original philosophy of all staff being Cast Members to create a never ending fairytale experience for the guest used to understand this, time will tell and stock prices will reveal all things.

Nope, not going up any time soon. WD Studios keep putting out dud movies. Lucas films has NOTHING in the works. Massive debt from buying 20th Century Fox with no returns yet. Streaming service bleeding money and subscribers. Investments into the USA parks has dried up. In Florida, Universal keeps gobbling up market share and guests, and more importantly ... guest satisfaction.

Parks still make a lot of money, and cruise line is a bright spot, but they cannot carry the weight much longer.

still an amazing company. These things tend to work out. The problem seems to be the studios, I think they can fix that, too many similar movies. I look at demographics, Disney owns gen z millineals and gen x. That is the prime spenders and the ones with future earnings growth, and the King Ron stunt has only made the bond stronger.
