Hmm. It's better than nothing but it's not exactly a spectacular gesture. The thing is, a lot of people will be happy to live off snacks anyway- for example, I think I'd be alright with a steady supply of Cheetos.

IMO, Disney should have matched SeaWorld's offer.

I think Disney will be busy enough with Spring Break crowds at present. For them to offer free admission at this time to stranded passengers could result in them turning away paying customers. Seaworlds offer is excellent, but I do just consider it to be a form of free advertising/marketing whilst the eyes of the world are tuned in to this situation. Lets not forget that people entering Seaworld etc will still be spending lots of money inside for food and merchandise. These are businesses at the end of the day, and Seaworld needs to fill their parks up much more so in April than Disney does.

I'm with you on this one. I'm not sure I could look back at this in a years time, having lost out on a holiday and all the money that goes with it, and say 'Well at least I was part of history'
I know which story I would rather tell my grandkids - and it doesn't start 'In 2010 I was supposed to go on holiday'

Rant away! I feel the same. People keep saying there's nothing we can do - well of course I know that, but the last two years of planning and now worrying how we will stand this time next week - I just feel sick. I really hope everyone manages to get away on time if ever we needed some pixie dust....

and with you on this thought too! Tired of people saying 'oh well, you can go next year' or 'you can go to DLRP later this year'. It's not the same and I've been soooo looking forward to it!


To answer the original OP question though....we were supposed to fly yesterday and had to rebook for this coming saturday. Disney were GREAT. Rearranged my accomodation with no problems and no mention of having to pay extra. Granted I changed within same hotel BUT I'm a cm and I thought I'd lose my discount cause it's only on certain rooms, certain times and they've let me keep it! The bad news was I lost all my special ADRs and can't get any of them cause it's all sold out But right now I'll worry about that when I get there...just get me there this weekend and I'll be happy no matter where I eat or sleep!

If I was due to fly away this week, I would not be putting my faith in the same weather service that stated that the last two years would be barbecue summers, and who failed to correctly estimate the severity of the weather that brought the country to a complete standstill a few months ago...

I don't think it's a case of putting faith in them, it's more a case of trying to hang on to some hope! I don't wanna have to give up all hope of making it out on my rebook this sat...I'm dissappointed enough that I'm not in Epcot right now having breakfast with the princesses, I don't want to permanantly be thinking it's all off without some glimmer of hope! Until they tell me I can't fly, I'm gonna keep hoping and praying, even if I do feel doom and gloom!

the wind direction will probably change by the end of the week, there is a great big weather system pushing up from mid Atlantic meaning South Westerlies instead of North Westerlies.... - just a matter of time so keep your fingers crossed.

Now that is the thing that only Disney Nuts understand. So when you try explain that you are upset because you lost them, they look at you like you just dropped out of the sky. All the planning and arranging (and stressing) of trying to get the ones you want where you want and when you want ..... Hopefully you will pick up some cancellations.

Yep! I burst into tears when I hung up the phone to dining, came on to Dis and posted. Knew my dis friends would understand. They have and their kind thoughts got me through that disappointment. Think I'm more upset than my friends cause they've never been, so I'd gone overboard getting things like CRT and CM for their trip to be extra special, and there ones we lost (with others). Oh well, as I say right now just get me to Orlando. I like DLRP but it'll feel like a VERY poor cousin if that's where I have to go instead.

same here. due to fly out on friday, trying to be poistive but it is very hard. People telling me no to be to upset as its a moment in history but these people haven't spent all this money, worked very hard to pay for it, been looking forward to it for a year and spent 6 months planning it. Sorry end of rant. Just keeping my fingers crossed.

BTW, VA got back to me tonight re. the luggage allowance. Guess what they said? The need my flight details to answer my question I only asked if it is possible to prepurchase for the return before you leave. So much for trying to help

they are NOT at 100% capacity...they could have offered a apecial room discount as well...

really, not very nice people making the decisions...
i'm sorry....business or no business....they would still make money on the rooms even with a special discount on them...
