Every Disney trip we make grandiose plans to visit DS to shop and eat, etc. We never do, mainly from the hassle of getting there and back. We have quite a bit of flexibility this trip as DH is taking off more time than usual (yay). We are thinking of adding 1 night at SSR to check out the resort and to finally visit DS.

Will it be insanely busy with black Friday shoppers? That is likely the day we would check in. Not sure what to expect that close to Thanksgiving. Thanks!

Not clear of the actual day you are planning to visit DS, but if it's a few days before Thanksgiving through Thanksgiving weekend, it's likely to be very full and very busy at DS.

We went Thanksgiving Day through the following Monday this past year and Disney Springs was bonkers out of control busy and way more crowded than any of the parks. We went to DS briefly on Thanksgiving Day night, Black Friday night, and Sunday morning.

DS gets lots of local residents as well as WDW visitors, and weekends (especially holiday weekends) tend to be very, very busy and crowded. If you go on Black Friday, go as early as you possibly can, and if you want to eat at a sit-down restaurant, have a reservation, no matter whether lunch or dinner. NB: a lot of the DS non-Disney-owned restaurants have more availability via Open Table than via Disney.

We ended up booking a cool Airbnb by St. Augustine instead! Figured it would be less stressful 🙂
