Disney has added their categories to the Disney Springs & Bonnet Creek hotels. This may help folks looking to make comparisons to Disney hotels when booking:

VALUE
Best Western Lake Buena Vista
Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista

MODERATE
Holiday Inn Orlando

DELUXE
B Resort and Spa
Four Seasons **
Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek
Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace
Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista *
Waldorf Astoria Orlando **
Wynham Grand Orlando
Wyndham Lake Buena Vista *

VILLA
Doubletree Suites

NOTE:
While Disney may say Deluxe or Moderate there will be some hotels with things missing even in those categories like pool slides.
* I disagree with these and would likely compare them to Moderate
** I think these should be put higher than Deluxe but Disney doesn't have a comparative category to do so.

Thanks Hopperfan! This list, and your input on said list, will most likely be very helpful going forward.

I mostly agree with your disagreement. haha

The Four Seasons Resort Orlando and the Waldorf Astoria Orlando are better than the other listed within that category. But, I certainly understand why Disney isn't making a new category for them because I'm not sure any of their own properties would qualify for inclusion.

I can't comment on the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista as I haven't stayed there (or even walked into the building).

While I wholeheartedly agree that the experience of staying at the Hilton Lake Buena Vista is mediocre on a good day, I can understand why it is in that category. On paper, it's deluxe: two pools, seven restaurants, 24-hour market, and other higher end amenities like a concierge lounge for some guests. So, I get why it's assigned to that category.

This was done quite awhile ago? The categories were listed when you went through the Disney website. I noticed them when I was looking a couple/few months ago.

I wonder if this means they will ad the Bonnet Creek resorts to the 60 Day FP booking sometime soon?

We like the Wyndham Grand Orlando.

That was what I was wondering. Bonnet Creek has always been "the hotels no one mentions" and just seemed like Disney was never going to make friends with them. Now to actually set up an independent partnership and book packages via Disney Travel ... a complete about face. I would not be surprised because they need to get more and more of the offsite guests to "commit" to Disney (bribe with perks) as Universal gets closer to a big expansion. More land just closed on.

Is this gonna drive the prices up? I stay there quite frequently for work. Prefer Parc Soliel down the street, but will do Buena Vista Palace or Doubletree as well. Mainly due to cost. Really hope this does not change this cost.

This is probably a really stupid question because I usually stay onsite (looking to try offsite); but why isn’t Wyndham Bonnet Creek resort here (the timeshare). Is it because it’s a timeshare? Would it rank up there with Disney’s DVC properties or is the Hilton/Grand Orlando a better option?

Disney has a relationship now with all these hotels and they have no relationship with the WBC resort.

I do think because it is direct competition to them selling DVC, they would never promote another timeshare group.

How close are Doubletree Suites to Disney?

The DoubleTree Suites is located on the edge of Disney property. But, Disney World is over 47 square miles. So, the distance between two points on Disney property can be vast. As there are multiple entrances to Disney World, some completely off-site hotels are actually located closer to one or more theme parks than some Disney World Resorts.

For example, I picked one of the closed off-site hotels on the south side of Disney World: the Baymont Inn and Suites in Kissimmee. According to Bing Maps, it's 2.2 miles from the hotel to Disney's Animal Kingdom. But, Disney's Wilderness Lodge is located 6.8 miles from Disney's Animal Kingdom.

If you're referring to the distance from the DoubleTree Suites to Disney Springs, it's about 3,600 feet from the hotel to the Marketplace section of Disney Springs. That's 0.69 miles, if that's easier for you.
