Disney Springs, the Downtown Disney overhaul, was officially announced today!

What are your thoughts? What are you most looking forward to at Disney Springs? Do you like its new name and theme?

I am pretty “meh.” I’m not a shopper, have only been to DTD once, and would much rather spend time in the parks/at a resort. I can shop/bowl/eat at home just fine.

I want bars, clubs, comedy, improv and ADVENTURERS

I am just tickled they are doing something. It looks very nice and will be a good break from the parks. We do not spend a lot of time at DTD now and never really venture over into the West Side. Maybe this will change that...

I'm most looking forward to a renewed Adventurers Club and a Comedy Warehouse. Oh, wait....

The Adventurers Club was closed by the time we got to WDW so I would like to see that come back, too.

But, an "expanded" World of Disney? I can hardly get my head around the current store. I hope they hand out maps.

I saw a blog post somewhere with a list of leaked restaurants and shops. One that I remember was Trader Sam's was coming to DTD. Also, A new Balance Store - which makes sense with the success of the limited RunDisney shoes and the increased excitement around the races. Also, a American Girl store - I guess as a counterbalance to Lego...

I could survive with less shopping, but glad to hear they've finally made a decision to do something. The conceptual drawings look nice if the can re-create that.

The listed project time is 3 years total. I Hope they start ASAP so it will finish sooner. They also state 4,000 permament jobs, that sounds like a whole lot of shops and Restaurants.

They're doing it in phases, but things seem to be picking up lately. The walkway from SSR to DTD is closed. They also closed Apricot Lane, a store on the West Side, today due to the upcoming construction. Cap 'n' Jacks is also closed now. I can't imagine how they're going to do this big overhaul, but am excited for the end result!

I would love to see the Adventurer's club return in some form if not Trader Sam's would do nicely.

Also I Love to shop but don't want pricey stores that I can't afford anyway. Also better parking

SSR is Saratoga Springs Resort. Directly across the water.

We used the walkway from SSR to DTD all the time. How are people getting there now, using the bus system or do they have a temporary walkway open?....smjj

Well I don't travel to WDW until September 2014, but I will be so depressed if the stores in DTD will be shut down when we go. I love DTD. I was looking forward to bringing the kiddos down there. I love WoD

I doubt that they would close all of them at once. What it looks like is that they're going to work on a chunk at a time.
