Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

I just don't see how the gondolas could not end up being very hot and stuffy in the summer. I know they're trying to be optimistic about it, but they're enclosed glass boxes with vents for air flow. I've ridden in cars that don't have air conditioning in the heat of summer. Having the windows down doesn't help, you're just getting blasted with hot air. What air flow you're going to get in the gondolas is going to be hot, humid air. They might have fans but they'll just push the hot air around.

I think they're really going to regret not going with AC in the cars.

There is no AC on the parking lot trams, Kilimanjaro Safari trucks, the MK railroad, ferries, the launches, Jungle boats, people mover, standing in line for most rides, outdoor rides, parade routes, while waiting for buses, etc. People aren't dropping from it.

Car windows are on the side and not the front and back so there really isn't much of an air exchange in a car. Plus there is the sun's heat beating up from the roadway, heat generated by tires on the road, the heat from the engine, and the windshield can't be tinted(in most states) to cut that heat gain.

You wouldn't want to add the Friendship Boats in Epcot and to the Epcot Resorts. They have sealed windows, and roof-mounted a/c units which are completely inadequate, and they get quite uncomfortable in the summer.

True but even the boat are not that bad. So they are a lot worst and people still take them

And basically every quick service restaurant. These cabins will feel like seating in the shade with a breeze. If someone can't handle that, they're going to be pretty miserable at WDW either way.

Okay, but you have to promise not wear yours when I wear mine. I actually bought two - the other is the seagulls from Nemo, but instead of saying "mine, mine, mine" they are saying "wine, wine, wine"

I think the issue is that some people can handle hot temperatures and some people can’t. I have had heat exhaustion twice, and I am very sensitive to heat. If the day is 95 degrees and the humidity high, no amount of shade or breeze is going to keep me from feeling ill. But I know there are people just as sensitive to cold as I am to heat, and they will probably enjoy stepping into a 95 degree gondola. I am looking forward to riding them, and will stay at gondola resorts in the winter when I know they will suit me better. I don’t see anything wrong with being disappointed that the gondolas don’t have AC, or to wish that they did, even though I understand why they don’t. I don’t expect them to add AC just to accommodate me.

I can understand being heat sensitive. But they won't be worse than any shaded area and will be better than sunny areas. So I'd think anyone that could handle a day in the parks could handle the gondolas. The majority of the ridership will also be early and late, avoiding peak heat.

If you can ride the people mover, I don't think you'll have an issue with these.

If you are heat sensitive and made it through an entire day in the parks, 10 minutes in a gondola shouldn't be a problem.

I usually don’t make it more than 3-4 hours in the parks on my fall trip, and there have been many times I wasn’t sure I would make it back to the bus stop. If I didn’t need to space out my vacation time kind of evenly, I would only go from December through March. The boss wouldn’t like me taking a week off every month for a while though, so I make sure I pick a resort I really like since I spend more time there on that particular trip. I am kind of used to working around it by now.
