Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

I wonder if they will run the lines at different speeds during the day. Perhaps faster during the rush hours of park opening/closing but slower during the mid-day?

I am more curious if they may run the different lines at different speeds.

For example, in the morning you will have people from POP and AoA coming up and then merging with people at CBR to go to parks - theoretically mostly to DHS. So will they run the POP/AoA let me a bit slower than the DHS line to avoid backup at CBR?

That would be a very short tram ride.
A Caribbean themed tram or an internal bus whichever they choose would need to make its rounds of the various bus stops and the check-in / food court area (at Caribbean Beach) to take guests to and from the Skyliner station. Not that short.

I don't see a need to run a line at less than maximum speed except to buy more time and possibly avoid a complete stop in the event of a minor irregularity including an unusually slow boarding or disembarking guest.

One thing curious, though: that big "DANGER: NO ACCESS" sign. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like that.

The picture with a green pylon that looks like the depository for cigarette butts, behind the fence? Then smokers would not be able to reach the pylon and more butts may end up about the grounds.

for a cabin with a wheelchair/ECV the max is 6 people ... first time I recall specifics for the accessible cabins ...
I would expect fewer problems if guests in wheelchairs or ECVs did not turn 90 degrees to allow a second such guest to enter the same cabin. Efficient system operation dictates that wheelchair/ECV guests be able to go straight in and go straight out without additional maneuvering with the cabin at the platform. There would be no need to designate "accessible cabins" unless problems cropped up with too many cabins carrying wheelchairs arriving in quick succession at a station.

Still looks like a pathway project.

Yeah, they have some very light duty construction equipment in there ripping up the walkways, which further leads me to believe it's something pretty minor. Pathway improvements makes sense.

Hi, everyone. I’ve been lurking for a while. We are here now and a leader CM at IG told us they are shooting for an August open date but it depends on ratatouille construction bc of both safety and show issues. A bus driver also told us the HS leg is slated to open on August 29 with SGE (apparently something on the bus schedules so may indicate fewer buses). He also said they are testing them at 12mph and will run them around 5mph or something like that. Interesting but I’m not sure if it’s reliable. Just sharing what we heard.

CM's and bus drivers are a pretty unreliable source. It's definitly not going to run at 5mph. I also don't seem them holding up the Epcot line until the Rat area is presentable, that would probably move the opening well into next year.

I was referring to the thought that the fenced off area is becoming a tram area which isn’t the case.

One thing you guys are forgetting in all your scenarios is that there are going to be incoming cabins with a ECV, wheelchair, stroller etc. that is going to need to unload in that loop also. They're going to have to leave at least one possibly 2 open positions in that loop for incoming cabins to go to.

Yea but I can see them "send" an empty cabin (or more) back into the pick up line, that will make room for any "incoming" loaded ECV cabins.

Kinda like SE where you can get on anywhere, and empty ones just keep going.

Yeah, there will definitly be times when empties have to be sent all the way through the loop.

If the doors are closed manually on cabins in the 2nd loop, empty cabins sent thru could be used at the main load area.

I'm sure this has been asked somewhere in this thread, to much to read, if I am at POP going to Epcot what would the process be? Do I get off and back on at one of the hubs etc.?

You will board at the POP/AOA station and ride to CBR (the hub). Get off at CBR and board another line there for Epcot. On the way from CBR to Epcot, you will pass through the Riviera station where guests may get off and on, but you just stay put in your gondola to complete the ride to Epcot. Epcot station is at the International Gateway entrance between the U.K. & France pavilions.

I'm booked at Pop next February and can't wait to ride this!

I agree - though makes me wonder how it would work for a couple that are both using ECVs ... Would they have to take separate ones?

Follow up question:) Getting off at CBR and back on, is it like taking the monorail from GF to Epcot where you have to get off walk down and over to get in the line for the Epcot monorail?

It is not clear exactly how this will work yet. It probably won't be a as long a walk as it is for the TTC transfer.
