I recently watched the Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. Hunchback 1 is probably one of my favorite Disney movies. The animation in Hunchback 2 was atrocious. It looked like they had their summer interns do the animation. I am surprised they released it with that low level of quality.

FTR, I've seen Pocahontas 2 and Mulan 2 which were both direct to video releases as well and they were both far, far, FAR better animation quality than Hunchback 2.

What the heck happened?

Ashamed? Really?

Those "straight to DVD" sequels are always way, way inferior to the theatrically released films. Is that the first one you've seen?

Like I said in my OP - I've seen Pocahontas 2 and Mulan 2 which were both far better animation quality than Hunchback 2. Of course they weren't the quality of their theatrical predecessors and I wasn't expecting them to be. But the animation quality of Hunchback 2 was really, really poor. It was really terrible. Inconsistent hair color, skin color, eye color.... I was quite surprised.

I'm sure after 12 years they've gotten over any embarrassment.

I never watch the sequels, but the original Hunchback is an underrated gem. :earsboy:

Heh, I'm sure they have. But I only saw it for the first time the other day. I probably never would have bought it but it's on Netflix.

They got ALL of the original voice cast so I guess I was expecting it to be decent.

It is a rare sequel that can come close to the original. I don't think we've seen Hunchback 2. This review doesn't move it up the priority list. ;)

There are times that you get bad video/audio quality on Netflix. It took them forever to fix the one from that 70s show.

They should be ashamed just for making a sequel...I guess I can understand that they *had* to change the ending of in first movie since it was for kids and they wouldn't like Esmeralda being executed and Quasi cuddling up to her decaying body to die of starvation holding her close.

But it is as bad as making a Titanic 2! Or The Further Adventures of Romeo and Juliet!

There aren't many Disney direct to video sequels that aren't mostly crap, but I agree, Hunchback 2 takes the cake! Horrible in every sense of the word. If I had to pick a favorite dtv "sequel" I would probably pick Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Christmas, Aladdin and the King of Thieves, or Lion King 1 1/2.

Hunchback is one of my all time favorite Disney movies too.

I watched the first 10 minutes on Netflix and hated it! Definitely the worst of the Disney sequels.

I had Little Mermaid 2 and Lady And The Tramp 2 on VHS as a kid but barely remember them. I don't think they were too bad though.

Pfffffff. Aside from Toy Story, I can't think of a single Disney animated sequel that was worth the price of the DVD. Unless it was in the clearance bin.

I thought Lion King 1 1/2 was pretty good. Didn't like Lion King 2 much though.
