Disney Shopping stinks! Update post #9

I ordered a Pirate Costume for DS 2 1/2 weeks ago for our upcoming trip to WDW. Said it would ship in 2 weeks. I called and they said don't worry . Yep, you guessed it. No costume. Got notice today, expected ship date October 8.

Sorry but thats ridiculous. When I ordered this, Halloween was well over 2 months away and now they're telling me it will be backordered for 6 weeks. I am so mad. DS had his heart set on a pirate costume. I looked for other ones and they are REALLY pricey. Gees does everyone spend $50.00 + on a Halloween costume.

I looked at the Jack Sparrow one at the Disney Store and its $40.00 without a hat.

I ordered 2 pirate sword/eye patch/telescope sets for my DDs to take on our cruise for Pirate night (which isn't until January), and I have gotten my third backorder notice and had to e-mail them that I didn't want my order canceled. My order is also supposed to ship October 8. Sounds like they underestimated the appeal of the pirate items! They should have figured with the movie out that everyone wants to be a pirate!

I'm assuming you all want Disney Store Pirate costumes---but while shopping at Walmart today, I noticed a bunch of Pirate costumes there. Might be worth checking into?

All I know is I'm looking for Superman and there isn't anyway my son is gonna wear the ones they're selling with those big, hard cardboard chests. Goofy! They look so uncomfortable!

i got my son the p.o.t.c Jack sparrow set from walmart. it came with sticker eyes for his face and two sparrow tattoos also a compass. a sward, three rings and the bandanna with the hair braids/beads. the set was 14.95 i think.

Disney Shopping is BY FAR the slowest shipper I've ever dealt with! I've only ordered from them a couple of times. I just placed an order yesterday for a couple picture tote bags and an outfit for DD from their outlet shop. I'm just praying they get here by Oct 14, the Saturday before we leave!

Hope you find something else suitable for your DS!

Not surprising at all that it's on backorder. Halloween items start selling out quickly beginning in August (I work PT for my sisters Halloween business). I'm assuming Disney only orders a projected amount so as not to get stuck with overstock and then backorders the orders they can't fill. Not likely that you will ever get yours.

I just got a catalog called "Costume Express" in the mail. There is a Disney Jack Sparrow costume in it that is great.

The boy's 3 pc set (shirt, vest with attached sash and belts, plus boot toppers) is $38. It all looks pretty easy to "make" at home, but you can get the Hat with scarf and beaded hair for $19.50. Mousheache and beaded goatee for $5.50.

Growing up, a pirate was the easiest thing to dress up as last minute, b/c Mom usually had a white blouse and we roleld up our black pants and tied scarves around.

Disneyshopping always takes a while to ship. My best friend placed an order on the 28th of August and got it today... nothing was backordered.

THanks for all the ideas. Our local Disney Store(which actually I have 2 close by) had 1 Jack Sparrow in DS's size. So I bought it. At least we have something and I can still look around.

He tried it on today though and looks so darned cute so I'll probably keep it. Grandma said she would buy the wig. Maybe I can talk DH into a Jan/Feb trip so DS can wear it again to the Pirate princess party.

I think I must have gotten lucky. I ordered a Princess Aurora costume with the wand/crown set on a friday and I received them the following wednesday...5 days with standard shipping! I have never had anything take more than a week. Sorry to hear about your bad experiences.

Actually I did also order DD the Belle dress the same time as the Pirate costume and I received the dress within a week.

I love it and so does DD. I think its nicer than The Disney Store one.

We just bought the one from The Disney Store and it looks great on. I wasn't taking my chances when theier website was acting funny. I tried to order it from them the day it came up online. So glad i chose not too !!

DS didn't like the Jack Sparrow costume from Disneystore. I thought he looked rather dashing. lol I took him to Party City where he tried on the Disney JS costume at $39 not including the hat/wig. He wanted to try on a non-Disney :gasp: pirate costume. I have to admit, he looked more like a pirate in that one, plus it came with everything, no need to buy the hat/wig. I did buy him a new pirate sword, $1.99, not that he needed one, and a flashing-eyes skull ring, $3.99. The non-Disney one was also made much better. $29.99. My son, the bargain shopper...LOL.
Last Christmas, Disneyshopping totally underestimated the Mix Stick demand and we barely got the Princess one in time. I cancelled my silver one and got it from eBay. It would have gotten here in Jan.
I also ordered a Jasmine costume for our oldest DD and they sent the wrong size, saying I ordered that size. Why would I order her a small?!? Had to return for exchange at my own expense. I'm hoping it gets here before we leave, for MNSSHP!
Other than that, no problems with the last six orders.

I ordered the pirate costumes for my grandsons over a month ago and my order is back ordered for the second time also. October 8th shipping...we are leaving for WDW on the 12th! I called and complained. A supervisor told me that they would probably have them at the end of September. This is the first time I had a problem with them. But it is a big problem. I did go to the Disney Store and bought two Jack Sparrow, but it cost me almost twice as much as the pirate costumes because I got them discounted during a special they were running.

Luckily DS is young enough (just under 3) that he doesn't have a say in his Halloween costume yet. Even if he did, I'm pretty sure pirate wouldn't be his choice. I ordered him the Buzz Lightyear costume from Disney Shopping on the 31st of August. It shipped on the 6th and should be here this week. We're not taking it to WDW for MNSSHP because he'll be miserable in it. We're just doing Halloween T-shirts. But I haven't had any problems getting items shipped yet from Disney. Knock on wood.

You jinxed me! I placed an order with Disney Shopping last week Thursday (September 7th). I got an email from them on the 12th that the package was being shipped out. I checked with online tracking and my package has been sitting at the "sortation center" in our city since September 13th...almost 72 hrs ago! I tried emailing FedEx and I keep getting a generic reply that they can't help me and my tracking number doesn't work. I even sent them the link that was provided to me by Disney Shopping! I'm sooo mad! It really isn't Disney Shoppings fault - but more the FedEx people...ugh! Sorry - just had to add my vent!

Hello fellow Wisconsian,

I too have a package that has been sitting in the "soration center" in WI since the 13th! I wonder if there is an issue with them updating the tracking system because the last time I ordered something (a couple of weeks ago), the tracking system still said it was at the soration center and my package was on my porch when I got home from work!

Here's to hoping our packages are not really being held hostage.
