Disney Security cracks down on Annual passes

This could be the most ridiculous post i have ever read.....wow i am a season ticket holder to the patriots, and i heard they hate it when i actually go to ALL the games....disney sold its annual passes for a reason, trying to limit their use or identify frequent users would be as slimey a move as possible....count me as a long time DVC member and disneyholic, but i have never fooled myself that disney passes aren't one of the biggest rip-offs in history....disney can sit-and-spin for all I care...use those passes!!!!...the more the better....think about the logic. They offer an annual pass for a "bargain...err...ripoff price, and their business plan is that they "hope" people dont use them...great idea!!!!

I was going to say - I have an AP and went last year 3x and this year we will go twice at least and possibly a 3rd time, it was just less expensive vs the hopper for both. This post is a bit wacky and I am not sure I like the idea of being lumped into a "group" based on the fact that I hold an AP - I am vacationing and I love Disney.

well the blue state would be massachusetts...smart enough not to vote for "that guy".......And that quote can be summed up by a simple trip to the vietnam memorial in washington where there are over 50,000 names of those who died for NOTHING!!!!!!......I hope you get to read this before they remove it!!!!.

Back to the original post...it makes no sense. Each time I go to WDW parks, I buy tshirts, meals, snacks, drinks, pins...If I only go once, I don't spend nearly as much as if I go 3 times in a year! And when I'm not staying on DVC points, I also spend the night in a WDW resort hotel! Why would they want to limit the number of times I go through the turnstiles if it means I'm spending more money? The more times I use my AP, the more $$$ Disney makes! AP's encourage people to go to WDW more times, that's why they sell them. IMO.

While I am a newbie here I would like to make a comment on this post. There is really no logic behind this as it applies to ANNUAL PASSES. I have been an AP holder for years and I live out of state, so when I come to WDW I have to purchase lodging, food etc etc, so it is profitable for DW. I could see it being a loss if you are a Fl resident passholder but not just an AP. Believe me WDW makes more money from me as an AP than they would if I were not one. They lose more money on the magic your way dining than they could ever lose on Annual Passes

I think what may be meant by the original post was that people are watching for the cast members or retired cast members that use their silver maingate passes too often.
When I worked at the parks, we would recognize the same people entering the parks each day with different people. That silver pass user would then prompty exit the park. We would question those people that got signed in who the cast member was ans would get different answers.
I know alot of people, but could never know enough friends of friends to sign in 4 persons a day 200 times.

That DOES make sense, but what the OP wrote makes no sense at all.
Even if the OP was told the same information you posted, I can't think of any reason that a security CM would tell a random guest that.

I am quite sure that Disney watches for people trying to beat the system, just as I am quite sure there are people who try to beat the system.

I just doubt that they are target AP holders who come in too often.

Let them raise the price or not have them at all. Then, when guests stop coming down twice a year, spending $3,000 on their hotel room, maybe they'll rehtink things.

They're probably targeting passholders, like the guy on ebay, who sells a child's annual pass for about $150, holds a security deposit until he gets it back, then resells it to someone else.

I doubt they are (initially) targetting the people who buy AP's for 2 or 3 week or so long visits per year. I used to buy one for whenever I might be visiting twice or thrice in one year plus for the discounts. However if I were going once a month I probably wouldn't much use those discounts...just focus on the best deals/options I'd uncovered at the World. What's worse is that I remember what I've learned from past AP possessions so I now spend less on future trips sans AP.

This last trip I spent $105 on one dinner for two OUTSIDE of the world. Inside the world? I spent $10 on lunch for me plus two movie tickets and drinks at the Adventurer's Club...maybe $50 that evening. I probably spent $250 total on food off world. This is not a good ratio for Disney but its one that will be maintained until Disney woos me back. And souveniers? Sure I got some...at the clearance sale at the Disney Character Outlet in the VF Factory Outlet Mall. I think I spent $16 on an antenna topper, calculator/mousepad, scrapbooking letters and a coloring pillowcase.

Oops my point... I'm still buying stuff but if I went with even greater frequency I wouldn't. And people who go more frequently than that may have motives not related to entertainment for going.

Let's see. I just got back from a 3 day trip. Friday we ate at Flame Tree and Boatwrights and spent around $110. Saturday we ate at Sassagoula Floatworks, Rosie's All American Cafe, and Tutto Italia where we met some friends and spent around $380. DS bought one of those wacky bouncy balls and refills at MK for $30. DW, spent the late morning at SSR Spa for $90 and lunch to go at Artist Palette for $10. Add some water/sodas and wine for $30 for a whopping total for Saturday of $540. Sunday was breakfast back at Sassagoula Floatworks and lunch at Pizza Planet for $45. So $695 not including the passholder reduced rate of $149 per night at POR. I think WDW is quite happy with FL residents using their AP 's to come back for weekends and holidays. And our firiends? They upgraded their pay 4 to play FL resident passes to AP's on Sunday. If this was a trip report, I would have to say that the Boatwrights menu has changed so much that we probably wont be going back for a while. FT's chicken was so small and dry it probably was one of those ibis's that populate the area. Tutto Italia did not seat our 8:30 ADR's until after 9:00. We were the last table in the park to leave. CM confirmed. Their food and wine was outstanding otherwise. It was still a great trip.
