If I may ask, how long will you be in Japan and how much time will you be spending on the rails?
We will be in Japan for 11 days (counting the days we arrive and leave).
We'll be seeing Tokyo for the first 2-3 days, then probably go to Kamakura or Nikko, then 3 days at TDL, a day to ??? I don't have anything planned, 2 days in Kyoto...then return to Tokyo for our flight out.
All I can say is that I've never had a problem using a Visa or AMEX card at an ATM in Japan. But do be safe and bring more than one card in case you do have trouble with your primary!
Thanks! Will do!
If you pay cash, yes. The tickets to Kyoto will need to be done in cash if you buy them at Narita, but the ticket office at the various stations do take credit. I would not buy TDL tickets until you get to the park; there's just no need. They take credit at the ticket window at TDL, and you can obtain English literature at Guest Relations just past the ticket window.
I wanted to buy the TDL tickets before we got to the parks to avoid the line up at the ticket windows. We'll be arriving at TDL ASAP that morning to drop our bags off at the Sheraton and then go to the parks. I figured if I got our tickets at the Disney Store, I could cross that off.
