Disney Rumor Alert!

That is interesting news indeed. In fact, I too wrote a blog last year that covered some of this. I mentioned Russia as well as another one that was buzzing around at the time (Switzerland). Its interesting to see that they're doing some research into this.

It all makes sense as well, since the Magic Kingdom and Studios are both getting some new things. Epcot is now in need, and with Future World being recently refurbed, World Showcase needs a litle attention as well.

I'm not sure I understand the attraction behind Russia as a choice. Is it just due to the history?

I'd like to see them keep the current countries and just add another. They definitely have the space back there to do so. Part of me is thinking they should avoid places like India and African countries because they are already represented at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I'd like to see something completely new.

Africa is also represented as a land at the Animal Kingdom park as well.

I can make cases for lots of very cool places, and I especially think Brazil would be great, but today for some reason I'm all over India. A nice dose of Bollywood, saris for sale, some great food...I'm in! It could be a totally different representation than what's at AK.

In my blog I listed why I'd love to see Russia. The great architecture and the easy tie-in for an E-Ticket attraction rank very highly for me, as does the fact that this is a very unique and distinct part of the world not currently represented. We have India, Asia, and Africa at AK, and mush of Asia, Western Europe and several representatives from the Western Hemisphere in Epcot, but I believe Russia would be very unique. But before I retype my whole blog, go check it out! :)

I'd love to see Australia (a new IMAX film would be pretty cool) and I always pictured a new TS restaurant in the far corner of the lagoon that looked like the Syndey Opera House. :)

Russia would be a great addition, too, though.

I'd love to see Australia also

I would love to see Russia as well. One of the things that I love most about the World Showcase is the architecture of the different countries. I think that Russia would add some pretty incredible architecture to the World Showcase...

And did someone mention Vodka? Martinis anyone?

In my opinion, I think Austrailia would be a little to close to what we already have. No don't attack me for saying that.

I would, however, would like to see something like Russia or Greece. The architechture would go along well with everything already at World Showcase.

I think Russia would be an amazing choice. I have a degree in Russian though, so I am a little biased. I think it would be really cool to showcase the very unique arcitecture of Russia (onion domes are so cool!) Also, Russia is an incredibly diverse nation. It is so close to so many nations that there is a lot of cross-culture that happens, and it is pretty cool.

Their history is a truely tragic one, and as an American visiting I was very affected by the realities of war. We are lucky in America that there has never been a devestating war on our soil. So much of the country was destroyed during the war, it made me appreciate our good fortune. The city that I lived in was completly destroyed. Only one building remains from before the war, and it is NOT in good shape (missing a few walls) Just a facinating country to me.

We (as a whole, not pointing anyone out here) tend to sterotype Russia in the USA and link it only to Moscow and communism. The culture of Siberia, the caucaus region, and of course St Petersberg are all facinating. I would like to see it

First of all, if there is anything that needs to be replaced/removed from the WS, it's the Outpost. I can't imagine the WS losing any of the existing countries. :confused3

Now, if we are pulling the plug on the Outpost, I would love to see the addition of Peru to the WS. There is so much that could be done with the Amazon rainforest and the Andes, not to mention the fact that it was home to one of, if not the, oldest known human colonies in the Americas. There is a very rich history to this country and I think that it would be a fascinating addition.

Of course, if you ask my wife, she would say with no hesitation, Australia.

Africa is represented with Morocco. The only unrepresented and fully populated continent is South America. I would love to see Brazil but I think if they expand it will be Russia or India. India is one the way to becoming the most populous country and there are plenty of culinary and architectural opportunities.

Yeah you're right my bad for some reason I always think Middle East when it comes to Morocco mainly because of Islam. I tend to forget that much of North and West Africa were converted to Islam...But still it would be nice to see a Southern African Country and showcase the Pre-Modern Religion influenced and pre-colonized African Culture (minus the female mutilation of course) ..... But I agree a South American Country such as Brazil or even Argentina would be good as well :goodvibes

What about Luxembourg?

Actually, it's so small they could just move the whole country over to a section of World Showcase.

omg there's so many choices..I personally would go for Puerto Rico :cool2:

but I know thats not ever going to happen..so I would go with Australia..then Russia...

if they had to take a country out for me it would be Canada (my opinion don't flame me!!!)

The Outpost was never intended to be a "country". It has always been just a filler. Back when Epcot opened, that spot was slated for Equitorial Africa. But, because of human rights issues and financing, that plan fell through.

There is actually room for several new countries to fit into World Showcase. Just a matter of money.

I have the video from the Epcot Opening special, featuring Danny Kaye and Drew Barrymore. There was a segment where they showed the plans and talked with Alex Haley about the Africa pavilion. But alas as we know it never came to pass, like other announced expansions.

I don't get the question about removing a country though. There is room to do it without removing one.

With India we can get a walking tour of a Dell call center :goodvibes.

I'd have to resist the urge to dope slap someone though.

India I do think has a broadbase food appeal.

Australia did have a sizable F&W presence in 2008...

I agree with the Outpost. My choice for an additional country would be Greece or Egypt.

Russia/ India or Australia/ Greece- They really have enough room to add them all :) I would love to see India added though.
I agree the Outpost needs to go, it never really flowed with the rest of the WS- it feels like a filler.
Did anyone do the Undiscovered WS Tour? I am trying to remember what I was told about that tour, and the untapped potential for WS.
:goodvibes Truth be told they could add any country and make it incredible :wizard:

I think Greece would be a great addition. As long as they dont bring Cat Cora in for the resturant..
