Disney Romance

Awww!! Congratulations!! I love Disney proposals! I got to see one on our 06 trip. I was crying! lol

Where did you see that proposal?? I am sure there are many proposals made at Disney. I had actually been working on another plan too, but went with what felt right. I am interested in hearing about what others have done. Mine was pretty low key, I am sure that some are way bigger.

What a sweet story!!:lovestruc

Dh and I had our Honeymoon at Disney~ We are going back this november for or 10 year Anniversary

How thoughtful and sweet!!! Wishing you all more magic for many years to come! :goodvibes

Ok here goes...hopefully it won't sound too corny!

In Jan 1997 by boyfriend and I went to WDW for the first time. For Christmas a few weeks earlier I had received a stuffed animal Pumba with a rolled up scroll in his mouth. When I opened the scroll, it was a note from Pumba asking me to take him to WDW to find his friends Simba and Tamone. When I looked up in surprise my boyfriend handed me airline tickets and park hopper passes. :yay: We had only been dating for a short time but I could honestly say (then and now) that he was the most genuine man I had ever met.

On our second day at WDW we went to MK. It was drizzling rain and HUMID. I was not in a very good mood this morning. Being in my young 20's I was a lot more high maintenance and let things like the weather bother me :sad2: I know, silly! My boyfriend was so happy and almost skipping along and for the life of me I could not figure out why he was so darn happy?? He led me through the castle and then took the immediate right that takes you down toward Belle's storybook time and Tomorrowland. He stopped at Cinderella's Wishing Well (now known as "our spot"). He reached in his pocket and pulled out two pennies and said we should make a wish. He was being so sweet and kind that my bad mood was melting away. :goodvibes I closed my eyes, made a wish and threw my penny in. I can now say what that wish was. I wished that we could come back in 5 years as a married couple and maybe have a baby on the way. When I opened my eyes he asked me if my wish had came true, grabbed my hand and presented me with a princess cut diamond ring. In all honesty...this was my face :scared1: . I never blush but that morning I turned all shades of red. I honestly had no idea that he was going to do this. I kept saying that for the remainder of the trip..."I had no idea!!"

I finally said "YES!". I swear pixie dust pixiedust: must have sprinkled at that very moment. The drizzle had stopped sometime during all of this, the sun came out and the show started in front of the castle! It was our first truly magical experience at Disney! :thumbsup2 Here is a pic from 11 years ago! Not sure if you can tell in this pic...but the sun is shining and there are puddles of rain on the ground! ha

Hehehe...no no..

We didn't realize it when we set our wedding date, but

October 25th was the formal dedication and grand opening celebration of WDW! It aired on tv Oct 29, 1971. I know, we watch WAY too many of those Disney documentaries! ;)

The kids and I were walking through the castle from Fantasy Land and to our right just outside the entrance was a guy singing to his girl friend and then got down on one knee and asked her. It was beautiful. But really, in Disney, it doesn't matter how it's done, it's Disney! Magic with romance is always beautiful.

What a beautiful story. Sounds like you got a great guy on your hands.

I hope I can share this without rambling, so here goes:

This past weekend was a very special FW trip. My DD and I were joined by my beautiful girlfriend (sounds funny at my age), and her mother and her DD.
She and I have been friends for some time, and we both went through divorces this past year. We had made many WDW and FW trips before with our families.

Over the past few months our realtionship grew into something wonderful. Our DDs noticed it before we really admitted it to each other. It is so nice to fall in love with your best friend. I hesitated to talk to her about my feelings, because I didn't want to mess up our friendship, but she could see it in my eyes. She told me she noticed it one night when we were in line to ride BTMR. She has always loved to ride this during the fireworks because of the awesome view.

So I decided to propose to her there during the fireworks. We were standing in the area around the geyser(which wasn't on). The sky was so clear, the air just a little crisp. BTMR was to our left and Wishes fireworks started to filll the sky in front of us. I don't even remember what I said exactly, but as we stood there hugging I pulled out the box and opened it. It took her a minute to see it and for it to register, but she said YES!!!!! We held each other and watched the fireworks. Then we walked up to Liberty Square and had a Funnel Cake.

Our DD's were off with my future MIL (who is great btw) and were waiting for word on how the proposal went. So I sent them a pic message of our hands together with the ring on.

For those who asked about the ring, she didn't want a diamond. She wanted a pearl. The bands are white gold.

So that is my attempt at a Reader's Digest version of the event.

Now maybe some of ya'll can share some romantic Disney memories, or more stories about your proposals.

Wow! I got to cry for other reasons than being livid for the past two days! What a cool proposal! Best of luck! I couldn't be happier for you!

OK, here is our "romantic" story...we got married in AL and decided that the best thing to do would be to go to WDW for our honeymoon. We didn't go often because we didn't yet live in FL together. (that was several years later) My mom's present was to pay for the trip, so she called her travel agent to book it. Now mind you, this travel agent has known me since I was in 1st grade and I went all through school with her daughter. She told the travel agent that she wanted a trip for the kids. (see where this is going????) So, when we went to check in, it was the Holiday Inn Sunspree off property! I don't know if y'all have been there, but there is a separate check-in for kids!:scared1: I called my mom and told her where the TA had booked us and she dropped the phone! I, in all my stupidity, decided that we would "wing" it there and just enjoy ourselves in the parks. Needless to say, we spent a LOT of time in the parks! One morning, towards the end of our stay, there was a loud scream at approx 4am in the morning of this child who had awoke to demand to go to the Magic Kingdom. His mother and father desperately tried to tell him in a 1000 different ways that the park didn't open for many hours, but to no avail. That kid was so loud, that the people on the other side of us were beating on the wall yelling at us to shut up!:scared1:

Needless to say, we have never stayed there again, even with a DS!

The travel agent got a tongue lashing from my mother, but she did say "for the kids!" I should have known....:lmao:

Sonya and Jen, thanks for sharing your stories!!!!! There has to be more out there. At least some other stories you know of?????

Congratulations, that is Awesome.
While I do not have a story of myself, I do know of one. My best friend in high school had started dating this girl and they were the perfect couple. This friend and I used to go Disney all the time so she had to be a Disney fan. Well after 10 years of dating, he made reservations for them at the restaurant on top of the Contemporary. At some point during the fireworks, he finally proposed. I went back with them a couple of months later after he told me the story so they could relive it and tell me the story while pointing things out. After Lisa and I were married and she got to know them, I took her over to tell her the story. I always found it a cool story. I can't remember how long the engagement lasted but, they have been married almost 10 years now. Here is a pic from when we all went to the fort back in October.
