Wow...you can always do it our way, purchase the smallest resale you can find, then add on thru DVC direct. Good Luck.mowog said:Disney exercised ROFR on a contract we were buying at BCV- 155 points at $83 per point December use year and no points available until Dec 06. I guess we'll try again when somethlng comes up.
Discouraging, hope you do better next try. I bought my DH one share of Disney stock last Xmas, he turned around and bought himself some more...can't wait to see what the new leadership brings to it's value. I tell him it's a variation on the "buy where you want to stay" theme.bullpup12564 said:Maybe they are cracking down on small contracts. We own some wdw stock so were glad to see it did not pass as a shareholder but sad as DVC'ers
EX VAC CLUB GUIDE said:This is very hot topic at DVC. They look at many things beyond just the price per point, marketing costs, how long someone has been in the sytem, all kinds of variables. There is no threshold price per point that automatically makes it. They look at total profitability of the transaction. That is the factor and each sale is individual. Obviously the guides hate resales and there is tremendous pressure on DVC management to solve the problem all the time. The ones that make it through ROFR are the ones that Disney could not make a dime on.
How would the length of time someone is in the system make a difference whether a resale passes ROFR or not?EX VAC CLUB GUIDE said:This is very hot topic at DVC. I don't see resales going away. Are guides looking for Disney to act as a resale agent? Are guides looking for a procedure to be developed where a member can sell their ownership interest directly to Disney?EX VAC CLUB GUIDE said:Obviously the guides hate resales and there is tremendous pressure on DVC management to solve the problem all the time. EX VAC CLUB GUIDE said:They look at the profitablity of the whole transaction from Disney's perspective. Meaning how much would it cost to buy it back and how much to sell it. They also look at the factors of demand for that product and if the buyer of the resale has been looking into DVC for awhile, there is no published time on how long in the system. But if they purchased through Disney, cancelled, purchased again, cancelled, came in on site through our transportation, spent couple hours with guide, bought them lunch, that all costs money. Every scenerio on resale has been looked at, doing it in house, out sourcing, everything. It is always on the top of the list. If you are thinking of resale you should talk to a DVC guide and tell them what you are looking at and compare. Of course they will try to get you to buy through DVC but most will tell you when you have a deal they cannot beat. They will also make sure you have all of the information as they will retain you as their guide and generate more business down the road. Many purchase with misunderstandings of how things work. Even if you buy through resale, (everyone understands the savings) you will still have a DVC guide, might as well be up front from the beginning.
