Disney river side or an all star resort?

We really liked POR when we stayed there but they are refurbishing the rooms at Movies so you may have a chance at one of those next year. I think I would actually vote for movies in your case. I know as a kid I would not have been impressed with POR compared to the large characters over at movies. As an adult, I choose POR hands down. I guess you just have to decide what’s more important.
Might have to have a family discussion and look at all the choices...me I’m fine anywhere honestly as long as everyone has a good time, but as an adult POR seems better. Maybe the rooms refurbished at movies would work in our favor.

Also por is so big find out what rooms the other family.is getting and maybe book different. AB vs the mansion. Preffered and princess rooms.

We have stayed at both....definitely Riverside for me! All Star tends to be much more crowded. The Food court at POR always sells it for me. In my opinion they have the best court on Disney property. As many mentioned previously, the pools are great too! Much calmer pace at POR.

Dh and I actually had movies booked for this October but figured there was such a little chance of getting a refurbished room that we switched it. But we didn’t have any hesitation as two adults to stay there.

Another vote for POR. The rooms are a tad bigger so you won't be as cramped, the food court area is a tad quieter and the common areas are less busy. The main pool is great and has a hot tub and the the smaller quiet pools are great if you want some quiet family time. If you are doing a resort day, I think POR is going to be more suited since there is more to do. As far as which the kids would enjoy, they are kids, they are at DW, they are going to enjoy anywhere.

Definitely POR. The resort is beautiful! We've never stayed at any of the All Stars resorts, but we have visited them and I wasn't a huge fan. We usually stay at POR (DD15's favorite) and we do love it there. It's so relaxing, and if you're going to have some down time, it's definitely a nice place to just chill. The boat to DS is nice, too. We'll just take that there and back sometimes to relax. POR also has one of our favorite entertainers, Yehaa Bob. He plays at the River Roost Wednesdays through Saturdays and he is a hoot! He plays the piano and sings fun songs. There is audience participation, and his talent just blows me away. DD would rather see him than see almost anything else in the evening.

All-Star Movies is very nice, have you watched the Dis Unplugged video review and vlog on their stay in January?

We stayed there in March on a last minute trip and really enjoyed it. Very clean, well maintained. The rooms are fine, not crazy roomy but big enough. My hubby and I did fine in the double bed, a little more closeness over our Queen, but not uncomfortably so.

They do activities for the kids at the pool. Food courts are fine, and you can use any of the food courts or pools of all the All-Stars. We were in Mighty Ducks, so we used All-Star Music bus and food court most of the time - it was a closer walk.

Each All-Star usually has it's own bus vs. Riverside has it's own bus but multiple stops so you're on your way faster at the All-Stars. Riverside is more centrally located, so it's about the same distance to every park except AK. All-Stars are next door to AK, so all other parks a little longer ride, although we didn't think it was that far.

We have not watched the review on it. Might need to. I haven’t fully decided if we would us their transportation or not. We are driving down there. So buses might not be a issue for us. After a park day it might be nice to have our quiet car ride back to the room over a bus back to the room lol

All-Stars fan here *waves* No multiple stops on the buses when we were there a few weeks ago, every destination had its own line and bus which went directly to its destination. No sharing with the other AS resorts either.I thought the transportation was very efficient

What's the price difference between the two? At the moment it's over $100 a night and that would swing it for me, to be honest, and I'd go with the value

It is roughly what I priced out about 100 a night difference as well.

Would anyone suggest doing a split stay between the two resorts? We are planning for at least 6 nights there. Maybe 4 nights in one of the All Stars with 2 nights in the POR Riverside?
