My husband and I will be leaving for our disney trip in less than a month now!!!! I can't wait but I do have some reservations about the rides. We are both on the larger side and I would like to know how well Disney rides accomodate people of size. We are looking to ride EE and R&RC as well as everything else :goodvibes TIA!

DH & I are "pooh sized" and have no issues on any rides. DH used to be a 3X and fit everything fine.

Since you do not mention your height weight or sizes I will only tell you that MOST people who ar larger have NO issues at WDW parks - THAT SAID - US/IOA my pose challenges for some - but there are test seats outside those rides one is larger than the other so if that fits you or your DH better those seats are in set rows - Do inform a CM that you need/wish to be seated in one of these rows.

here is a link to being larger at WDW

I wouldn't worry too much you and your DH should be fine:thumbsup2

Thanks for the help so far I am 5'8" and around 350 :scared1: and DH is 6' and around 350 also. Any first hand reports would be very helpful.

My husband is 6'4 and 300+ lbs. He rides comfortably in all of the disney rides but I am tiny 5'0 and 100 lbs, so we ride fine together in most everything.

So, let's say that he went to WDW with one of his brothers...in that case these are the rides that they would not be able to ride together:
-Teacups (tight around the legs & knees, not easy to get into)
-Astro Orbiter (we couldn't ride this together, it is tight in the legs/knees area)
Maybe:
-Big Thunder Mountain
-EE
-Peter Pan
-Haunted Mansion

Rides that I can think of could be cramped b/c of the size of the seat are Dinosaur, Tower of Terror, Rockin Roller Coaster and Mission Space, but my husband has never had trouble with any of these.

For rides that typically fit 3-4 people, just let the CM know that you need your own car - Test Track & Primeval Whirl can be really uncomfortable with 3 plus sized folks, but with just 2 in the car you should be fine ;)

There are lots of rides that have seats made for two tiny people, so one of you could go in the front while the other sits in the back - Snow White, Winnie the Pooh, etc.

Also, for rides like Its a Small World, Living w/ the Land or Pirates of the Caribbean, ask to sit in the front of the boat b/c there's more legroom there.

Above all, don't stress about it too much, the CM's are very good at accommodating everyone. :thumbsup2

The only issue my wife and I had was on Haunted Mansion, not the ride itself but the turnstiles to get into the ride they are very narrow. All we had to do was use the handicap entrance and we were fine. In fact if turnstiles make you nervous just use the handicap entrance on all the rides and you will be fine.

Disney is a family place and lets face it as we get kids and grow older, we all are not a size 10, so all rides assume people are larger then super models. moreover, most of the rides sits are just a row and can feet anyone. Anyway, I never saw weight limits on rides, just heights limits, guess it is for a reason.

We are a Pooh sized family as well and we fit in everything.
Space Mt. wasn't graceful, but I fit fine. Just had to remember not to hold on to the bar tight, a couple a jerks later I had that thing snug as a bug in a rug.........:rotfl2:

My DH is 6'3 and 280 his legs posed some uncomfortable positions (including the flight down there) but he fit, even in the tea cups.

Relax and enjoy, DW really does focus on all people not just the runway models. :woohoo:

We are pooh sized as well. I am 5'10 and 250 and DH is 6'2 and 320. I have no problem on anything. My DH on the other hand will not do Big thunder Mt. He is is not comfortable hurts his knees and he will not do Space Mt. said he was not comfortable I can't remember if he was OK in the first car or not I will check.

We were at MK a few years ago with db-i-l, who is a very large man. The only thing that was uncomfortable for him was Space Mountain. He did have trouble "fitting" himself into the seat, and was more sitting on top of it. He was white as a ghost getting off....that must have been pretty scary!

One thing I love about WDW is that a wide variety of sizes/shapes are able to ride the same rides.

When I was 5'7" and 330 lbs, I fit on all the rides.

Here's a tip for rides, such as ToT, that have seat belts... pull the belt all the way out and put it in the locking mechanism BEFORE you sit down. I found that easier than trying to blindly latch it while I was sitting.

And for Space Mountain... the 2nd & 3rd seats of each car of the train has a little more leg room.

I'm a pooh sized girl at 5'5 and 320.
The only thing that causes me panick are the turnstiles at HM. I just need to suck everything in as much as possible and go at it at full speed. I know about the alternative entrance, but I believe you miss the pre-show and that just adds to the experience.
How I wish they would remove them.

I would add that a lot of the "theater" shows have seats with armrests, which can be uncomfortable to get into (Muppets 3D in particular). Just sit on the front of the seat and then slide back. MUCH easier and more comfortable to get into.

DH is 6' 350lbs and had no real problems. Space Mountain was uncomfortable, but a lot of people have issues with that. Crossing my fingers they are changing the cars in the refurb!

The only problem with a WDW ride or attraction due to my size was the design your own rollercoaster thing at Disneyquest. As for the other parks like Universal and Busch Gardens, those test seats outside the ride are not always accurate, I fit in the seat itself just fine, but I am fairly muscular under my lard:laughing:, so the over the shoulder safety bars won't close far enough to latch on some of the coasters at those other parks, and its very irritating to try the test seat, wait in line and then not be able to ride.

My problem is I am bigger in the thighs as opposed to my mid-section so I am worried about the bar on Everest. I want to ride that so bad!
