Can you use your Disney Rewards dollars towards the cruise and if so do you have to go through a certain travel agent or business.. how does this work? I am trying to shop for the best deal.

You or your travel agent would have to book directly through DCL to use rewards to pay for the cruise. No one outside of Disney can take the rewards. Hope that helps! :D

I know the actual Dream Reward dollars (or whatever Bank One calls 'em) can be converted to Disney dollars and applied to your onboard account. The Disney Store mgr said that she took her Rewards card to Customer Svc (onboard the ship) and they applied the Dream Rewards straight to her onboard account...but I haven't tried that.

The Disney Dream Reward Dollars do not have to be converted to Disney Dollars in order to have them applied to your onboard account....you just give Guest Service your Dream Rewards Card and whatever amount on that card can be transferred to your onboard account....the whole amount or partial amount.

we also just had our Disney Visa Rewards dollars applied to our shipboard account. Just bring the card and they will take care of it for you.

oh...thanks for the info! I won't spend mine next time I go to Downtown Disney. I will save it for the Magic!

So essentially I don't need to have my "points" or whatever converted I can just let them where they are and give them my visa and they willl take care of it?

Yes you do, you must take the points (dollars) that you have earned on your Disney Visa and transfer them to a Disney Dream Rewards Dollar card....it is like a reloadable gift card. Your points (dollars) get transferred by you by calling Bank One or doing it online to this card and then bring the Rewards Dollars card with you whereever you want to spend it....WDW, the cruise, the Disney Stores, etc. Bank One will send you the card in the mail with points (dollars) you asked them to put on it. It takes about 2 weeks to receive so order it in enough time to get to you. You can then add Disney Reward Dollars to the card each time you accrue them.

The Disney Dollars that are sold (like dollar bills with the characters on them) are completely different than the Disney Reward Dollars earned thru the Disney Visa card.

It is confusing because both are called Disney Dollars and Disney Reward Dollars but they are two complete different animals.

The regular Disney Dollars sold at Disney Stores are paper and can only be used onboard DCL to be applied to your onboard account since DCL is a cashless system for payments (except at Guest Service).

I hope I did not make it more confusing....I just didn't want people to think Disney Dollars and Disney Reward Dollars are the same thing because they are not.

Mmouse37...you explained it perfectly! I will be sure to add my reward dollars to my Disney reward card before I go. Thanks so much for the info!

Thanks for the info. I didn't even know I had 49 Disney points on my Disney Visa. I ordered my reward card and will have it in time for my 9/11 cruise. Every little bit helps. Angela

Does anyone know if the rewards can go towards the actual cost of the cruise?

I don't think so, unless you actually book through DCL and even then you would have to call and check with them.

As I said at the beginning of the thread, yes, your rewards can be used toward actual payment for your cruise package, if you or your travel agent book directly through DCL. You'll need to give them your reward card number and they'll take however much you've got on it toward payment.
