I think I screwed up. I completely paid off my vacation using my Disney Visa. So I have 2000+ on my Visa right now with 6 months fee financing.

I requested my rewards card today. Can I take any of my rewards dollars and apply them to my trip - if it's already paid off?

Thanks.

You can use the points for room charges once you get there, but I don't think you can get a any of the visa charges refunded by using the points.

I don't think so either. You can use Disney Dollars towards your final pmt but I don't think so after it's pd. off,

I'll be paying off my trip this week also, and planning on just paying it in full using the Disney Visa....

Then I'll request the rewards card once this trip is applied toward the rewards, and use that card for any souvenirs we buy.

Granted, we're only going to have about $220 on the card, but that's $220 less money out of pocket we'll be spending on souvenirs, etc. :)

That's like spending money at WDW on WDW!! Have a nice trip!!

Thanks for the replies.

Now I'm stuck with $400 in rewards dollars that I doubt I will spend. I think I will save most of them for next years trip.

I will call Disney just to be sure I can't used them against my trip cost this yr.

Call to be sure. It can't hurt. You can use them when making a deposit for next year if you like.

I just got a Disney Visa so I'd appreciate any tips on the rewards. Is the Disney rewards card like a gift card you get from using and earning points with the visa? How much can I expect to earn on every $1000? Does anyone know when and if the Disney Visa discounts are coming? Thanks.

you get $1 earned per $100 you spend.

you can't use them for spending money on this trip? :confused3 Do you not spend money at WDW?

I have free dining so I doubt I'll be spending a lot of extra money. I wanted to save $200 for extras and put $200 down on the trip.

So that is $10 in rewards money for $1,000. Yeah, I thought I would do ALOT better than what I just received on my card, too. I'm not so sure it is all THAT good, but then better than nothing! I have other CC that earn more points for future stays at hotels....I think that is more in our favor.

Disney Visa has special offers for extra earnings on points at times. All this year there have been 5 times the points offers. This offer was not offered to everyone, no rhyme or reason who is picked, and you had to sign up. It was just a phone call or you could do it on line. Some offers were to earn the 5 times dollars on purchases of gas, dining, groceries and airlines for purchases, each month, for over a certain dollar amount. This can cause large balances for some if you are not careful to PAY off the money each month. I was able to earn a few extra dollars this way. I actually sent in a payment before charging my groceries, the last thing I want to pay interest on, each month. I can see how and why this type of extra dollars is offered, for the ones that will end up carrying the balance and Disney Visa earning interest income.

One thing was for the April to June offer was that even to be offered it, you had to have the card since the previous Oct. There was a 100 limit on the bonus dollars for each 3 month timeframe.

That is the same that I was getting with my Amazon rewards card, I would rather use it to save for Disney. Since the points are good for 5 years, we plan on using them for our hopeful trip in 2011. We figure that even 500 DD then will be better than using 100 for the trip in November.

Just transfer the points you want to use to the rewards card and leave the rest in the account. Once transfered to the card they will expire in a bit more than a year. If you transfer them now they probably would expire in Dec 2009. But if you leave them in the account they will be good for a number of years. So, if you have another trip planned within the next few years, you can save them up for that trip.
