Well I received my first Disney Rewards Newsletter today. I was one of the people that they sent my first card with Charter Cardmember and then the 2nd set with Disney Vacation Club. Well I am curious if anyone who received the newsletter who orginally received their visa with DVC on it received anything different than I did. Are there any offers for DVC members? The reason I ask is that on the enveople the first line of the address says Charter Cardmember and then the 2nd line has my name.

Terry, I got mine yesterday and I think it's the same- nothing special for DVC. I think they may have marked the cards but that is the ONLY difference, the same things are offered to all card holders.

"If" they actually do anything special for DVC'ers I bet the info will come from DVC, not in a general newsletter.

I have the VISA with DVC and member since day one and it doesn't seem to be any different with respect to offers.

However, I have another question. I have called the VISA card, rewards number, WDW and the Disney Store and no one seems to know for sure. Can you redeem your rewards $$ for the Disney Store and use them to buy park tickets. This was our main reason for getting the card. Since we go to WDW every year with our DVC, we want to use the VISA to work towards park tickets. If you buy them at the Disney Store early, they are cheaper.

Does any one know the answer. I would love to know before I order the rewards $$ since it is different for WDW or the Store.

Thanks

I though your rewards would be Disney Dollars and you could use them for "anything" Disney (incuding tix). Does anyone know? If that's not the deal then I won't use my card as obsessively!

I think you can use them for "almost" anything but tickets at the Disney Store are often excluded from "special offers".

However, ths issue is that when you order your reward $$ you must specify The Disney Store, Walt Disney World/Disney Cruise or Disneyland. Once ordered, your reward $$ are only good for that specific location.

Hence my question, I don't want to order reward $$ for The Disney Store if I can't use them there to buy tickets. I will order them for WDW and buy the tickets there even thought they are more expensive.

Its all pretty confusing - even the people at the Disney Store in our area admit that!!!!

I'm sorry... this won't answer your question - but i thought I'd throw it out there as an "FYI."

I called about a week ago to redeem 60 "rewards dollars."

In the past, when checking into the resort, I'd place any Disney Dollars I may had accumulated on my account - in anticipation of using them with my room charge.

The rep at the VISA line said I wouldn't be able to do that - that, "...at WDW - they were accepted by participating merchants," - and that I couldn't just "put them on my account" as a blanket credit. And while she assured me that they would be widely accepted on property - they do NOT maintain a list of participating merchants - as it would be too difficult to keep the list current.

So I asked if I could redeem them for the Disney Store, instead, and then purchase Disney Dollars - and she said "No - you can't purchase Disney Dollars with your Rewards Dollars." I didn't ask about park tickets, though - sorry.

I went ahead and redeemed mine for WDW. I could have paid a fee to have them overnighted - but she indicated I would receive them in about a week, anyway.

We're going over for Memorial Day Weekend - I expect to have them by then. If no one else has reported back with their personal experiences by then - I'll be sure to!

HTH.

Direct from the "rewards guide" that is available online through Bank One:

* Disney Dream Rewards Dollars are good for most Disney merchandise, park tickets, hotels, food and more at participating locations. That can even be used in combination with special offers and discounts.

I read that as, yes, you can use them to buy park tickets. Granted they used the legal languate of "participating locations" but I think they'd have a fiasco on their hands if they advertised it like this and didn't let people use their awards towards park tickets.

Hi Sgtdilbert

I read the same thing in the rewards guide - however, no one can tell you if this is for purchase of tickets at the theme parks only or at the stores. I agree that it would look pretty bad if they did not accept this at the stores; however, when I called they were not sure. The manager even called the rewards info line that they have and got no where.

Guess we will have to wait and see. I plan to call the Store again soon to get another reading on it right before I call to redeem the dollars.

I am racking up between $10 and $15 a month in rewards. I will wait to redeem any until you guys report back! We don't even HAVE a Disney Store in my town anymore... I'd be bummed if I got the "store" rewards and then couldn't use them for tix!

I got my "rewards dollars" in the mail today - but there was no more info inside the envelope then what we've already heard...

It's interesting - they were nestled into this tri-fold thing that had slots for two cards - like credit cards. I'm not sure what the slots are for... The rewards dollars, themselves, are stiff cardboard, and larger than US currency.

Who knows...
