disney rewards card

After 7 years of waiting I'm finally planning a trip to WDW for August 2005. I was thinking of applying for the Visa card. Is the point cashout of any use for this trip? Are there any discounts for Resort or cruises when you charge to the card? I looked for more information on Disney's web site already but would rather get input from all of you.

You earn 1% in rewards for every $ you spend. You can transfer your rewards to a disney rewards card (like a debit card). These can be used to pay for hotel, food, et...basically anything disney owned. I believe that there is a $20 minimum for the first transfer but, I think there is a $50 signup offer out there still. As for the discount part- yes, disney does sometimes offer discounts for hotel stays paid for with the card.

I have the disney visa - I've been using it about 6 months now. You get coupons and offers when you get your credit card statement every month, and I've gotten a good rental car coupon for alamo for our trip in november. As for the resort discounts, they told me that you have to wait until you're sent something through the mail or in your statements. I called disney visa and they couldn't tell me any discounts that would be coming up, only what they are offering at the present time. For about 3 months, they were giving double rewards. If you use your credit card alot, you could benefit greatly. They also have a deal that you don't have to pay interest when you charge a disney vacation package which is good also. Thanks. Is this right? If I charge the disney trip to the card ($5,000) I'll get $50.00 in rewards. Then payoff part of the trip with the $50.00 debit card?

I don't think you can use the credit towards the price of the trip. I have the brochure in front of me, and it doesn't say either way if you can or can't use it. When you request your reward dollars, you have to call disney visa and they will issue you a credit card type card with the rewards loaded onto it. You probably have to call disney visa to see if you can use it towards payment of your trip. Good luck.

The other cool thing is that occasionally Bank One will have special promos, such as double points or double points for amt spent over a specific threshhold. We've started using our card for everything and we have $100 Disney Dollars that we'll be applying to our shipboard account.
