Which resturants and what dining time would you recomend so that a family could view a parade or enjoy fireworks while eating dinner?

Watching the fireworks at the California Grill on the top of the Grand Floridian is probably the best thing in Disney. While the food is a little expensive, it is a signature Disney Restaurant, and the food and value of the experience is priceless. We dinned there for my father's bday in January and it was amazing, we are going back in May. Also, you can see the Epcot fireworks in the distance AND some nights they have a light parade on the lagoon and you have an amazing view from the top of the hotel.

What time was your seating and what time was the fireworks?

I perfer watching WISHES from Narcoossees (GF), than the CG.
To view Illuminations at Epcot, Rose and Crown.

Its tricky because you have to match the reservations with the fireworks that night. You need to make sure you get a seating before the show, so for the eight wishes be there before. ( we were around 7 I want to say) Also, I have heard they give passes out to people to see the fireworks if they have earlier seeatings.

That is what I was told! We will be at our reservation at 730 with 10 fireworks. Thinking it will be a little long to stretch for dinner to last that long. Our kids are 3 and 5. Maybe we need to bring something to occupy them.

we did an early-ish dinner at cali grill and left the restaurant, explored the resort, played in the arcade and then about 15 mins before the fireworks we went back up to the observation desk... all we needed was our dinner receipt (although the elevator operator recognized us from earlier)... it worked out perfectly, esp since my kids love arcades and the CR has one of the best and we don't typically include arcade in our disney vacations...
