OK. Been to Disney many times but never really eaten there.

Any recommendations? Two of us and 7 yr old son.

Also, do you need advance reservations for these?

It really depends on what you and your family will eat.

Most kids love places like T-Rex at DTD which is Dino themed, food pretty good and portions very large. Theme is pretty cool.

Rainforest Cafe same as T-Rex only rainforest theme.

Check out the menus on here or on allears.net and see what takes your fancy.

We have eaten at the following
California Grill- Good food but pricey
San Angel Inn- Loved the food and the atmosphere
le Cellier- Not one we would ruch back to but loads of people love it.
Crystal Palace- Breakfast was great and you can't beat meeting Winnie the Pooh and Friends.
Fultons Crab house- Good food but its mostly seafood and the alternatives are a bit limited.
Sanaa- Food ok but another one we would not rush back to.
Tonys Town Square- Horrible food and service.
Paradiso 37- Only had starters and drinks but pretty good and they have a band in the evening.
Via Nappoli- Pizza good and plenty of it but service not so great. Would not put us off going back.
Sci-FI- Good burgers and shakes and the atmosphere is pretty cool plus getting to sit in the cars is another nice twist.

There are others but can't think of them all at the moment.

Cheers Starrsky.

In the past, we've eaten at Rainforest (food OK, but overpriced) and thats it. The food is just so more expensive as opposed to outside the parks.

But would like to try it this time.

if you're talking sit down meals, i suppose for a 7 year old a character meal is best..
and since he's a boy, you'll want to avoid the princess meals..

check the character meals at the Crystal Palace (breakfast, lunch and dinner)

also check the character breakfast at tusker house in animal kingdom (i think it's at tusker house).

those two are inside the parks.

Outside the parks, i'd try the breakfast at the cape may cafe in the beach club resort
and breakfast and dinner at Chef Mickey in the contemporary resort

and yes, you probably need an ADR at all of the meals listed

It is dearer than eating offsite.

I'd recommend making reservations to avoid a long wait - easiest way is online at the official wdw website.

For a 7 yr old boy I think i'd go to T rex at DTD. Try ringing the restaurant directly for a reservation if you can't get one online - they only release some slots to disney reservation system.

If you go on rainforest cafe website under kids rewards there are reward charts to print off for a 99c kids meal at reainforest cafe. BUT as T rex has same owners i've seen several reports of people being ok to use them at T rex aswell.

Sci fi for lunch at HS would be fun - you eat in a car at a 'drive in' . A Burger and coke there is not much dearer than cs. Do make an adr as walk ups have always been turned away when we were there and an adr gets you in a car guaranteed (they do have some picnic tables aswell)

Whispering canyon at wilderness lodge is loud and fun - if your son likes ketchup he will appreciate the joke they play.

If you fancy a character meal I think tusker house breakfast at AK would be fun for a boy or chef mickey.

Ate at CM for the first time this year and it was fantastic, I would recommend this and you will need to book.

I highly recommend Coral Reef in Epcot! My kids loved it, sat by the massive tank with sharks and fish etc swimming by. And the food was mouthwatering.

I had the Mahi Mahi and as much as I love trying new things I'll be ordering the same thing next time we go. I tried to make it myself at home but failed miserably! lol

I'd love to try sci fi next time too. And teppan edo, which I cancelled last time. I'm sure kids will love watching their food being cooked in front of then.

My two loved 'Ohana at the poly, and most of the character meals we had. Not disney but Spiderman breakfast in Universal was the big winner, he was fantastic, best character interaction we had the whole trip surprisingly.

Our DS was 7 last year when we went so I have just asked him which resturants he liked the best and his top 2 were Si-Fi Diner at HS and T-Rex at DTD. It was the themeing that did it for him rather than the food, although we had pretty decent meals at both places.

We had a lunch time ADR for Si-Fi Diner booked for the day we planned to at HS, but at the T-Rex we just turned up around 12pm and there were loads of empty tables (this was in the first week November).

We also ate at Cafe Mickey and Crystal Palace for the charaters which DS enjoyed...he did say during our trip that he liked buffet meals...probably because he is a tad fussy with his food so can always find some unusual combination of foods to eat at buffets! :rotfl2:

Although it can take a bit of time planning, I do like to have ADRs as it takes the stress out of deciding where to eat and worry about whether they will have a table available or have to queue for hours waiting for a table.

Other places we enjoyed were Mama Melrose...we had that with the Fantasmic dinning package which we loved...there's something good about walking straight past an enormous queue and just walking straight into a place with a guaranteed seat :lmao:
