Hi. Saw a thread on another forum (TA) re someone enquiring about how to get from their Radisson LBV hotel to and from the Disney theme parks.

I could not believe the reply which suggested that they could take advantage of Disney transportation. The advice said that from the parks, the person could catch a Disney resort bus to any resort hotel then from there catch a downtown disney bus. Once at DTD they could walk up Hotel Blvd back to the Radisson.

Perhaps its time for the disney bus drivers to check that people getting on the bus are actually entitled to do so. Alternatively disney should introduce some sort of 'swipe system'. We pay a high premium for the perks of staying on-site and if this is becoming the norm, then IMO something needs to be done. No wonder the buses were so crowded when I visited 2 years ago:rolleyes:

The reason I raised this is because I've just followed another thread here re the EMH being open to non-disney guests. I feel the transport should fall under the same policy. Anyone else agree??

How unkind. I am certainly no troll. :sad2:
I thought it might be an interesting debate.

Well, it's been an "interesting debate"
about 20 times.

And as a newbie, posting a TRANSPORTATION thread on the CB instead of the TRANSPORTATION board, well... ;)

But carry on!

You are correct, I am a newbie and there are a vast number of different places to post under  I also struggled last week where to ask about my Typhoon Lagoon query.

If this subject has been discussed before then fair enough and I'd be really grateful if you could show me the link where to view the threads. I believe that's what usually happens. I am honestly interested how people feel about the issue, just like they replied to the EMH thread.

I have been away from this site for a number of years but as my family & self are visiting Orlando again in a few weeks time I thought I'd resume my membership again. The long gap since I last posted is why I've only got "30 posts" to account for. Hope that clarifies that I am not a "troll":sad1:

Please feel free to ask the Moderators to redirect my thread to the correct 'board'.

I can't imagine this would cause the buses to be overly crowded...if that were true, you would see gaggles and crowds of people walking down the strip from DTD. What of the people who are not staying at your resort...that would make it more crowded for you, the resort guest....someone staying at PoP, taking a bus from EPCOT to say POLY for dinner. You could argue my bus is too crowded by these non-polyites.

I think, actually I'm sure, if this were a major problem that Disney would have checks in place already.

A swipe system, while good in theory, just not feasible. Most complaints you hear now is how slow it is, etc. Can you imagine how much slower it would be to load a bus, then the inevitable card not swiping correctly or forgotten cards, etc.

Troll or no troll...what has been missed here is that Disney Transportation is for everyone, not just on-site guests. It isn't exclusive and the scenario cited is possible but they would be spending a lot of their day just getting to and from the parks since no DTD bus goes directly to any park or directly from any park to DTD.

They would have to transfer at least once each trip...hardly a good planning choice unless you like spending most of your time waiting for buses.

Point taken. I stand corrected. :goodvibes

Having stayed at SSR several times, I have often overheard people on the bus who were walking from SSR to DTD while not staying at SSR. They are either parking at DTD or staying at one of the hotels.

If people really want to waste that much time to save a few bucks, I can't get too annoyed with them.

Don't a lot of the resorts off-Disney property have their own bus transportation?

Taking a bus from a park, to a resort, to DTD seems like a pain in the neck. Seems like it would be less hassle to just take the non-Disney resort bus from the park directly back to the resort.

Concerning the EMH, if someone is in one of the parks during EMH, if they are not staying at a Disney resort, I don't think they can go on any of the rides. Don't the ride operators check KTTWCs to make sure people riding a particular ride are staying on Disney property?

Disney transportation is not for just onsite guests - anyone on property is allowed to use the bus, boat, and monorail system. It's not one of the perks for onsite guests.

Don't WDW tickets include use of Transportation? :confused3

I've seen it posted on the dis boards that the Disney busses were for resort guests only (and if it was posted on the dis, then it has to be true ;) )
But I guess I don't really know for sure if that's accurate or not. :confused3

Nope, anyone on property can use them - some offsite hotels have shuttles that drop you off at one park. You use WDW transportation to parkhop to the other parks, or to dine at onsite resorts, etc.

Don't confuse resort guests with guests of the resort hotels. "Resort guests" refers to guests of the Walt Disney World Resort as a whole, so day guests or overnight guests are all included.

If I was an offsite guest and wanted to park hop, for example, I'm allowed to use Disney transportation for this.

The original scenario is just wonky IMO. It's a little over a mile from the DTD bus stop to Radisson LBV, plus you have to cross SR-535. That's a long walk at the end of a day of park touring! If they're gluttons for punishment, more power to them. ;)

Raise the prices of items sold at DTD a penny or two to pay for attendants, Gate the exits from the parking lots and have attendants on duty to collect parking fees (same amount charged at parks). Put in parking ticket dispensers at the entrance with one way spikes (to prevent cars leaving). Show you bought a total of at least parking fee and get ticket validated. Or scan park ticket/key just like at the park when you get on the bus (minus finger scan).

That is the only way I can think of to control it.
