Do the deluxe resorts tend to upgrade more than the values and moderate? Kinda a hard question to answer but just curious. we got an upgrade at CBR and not POP and we are off to WL in 2 weeks.

I think the upgrades could all be about the same. If it is available you may get the upgrade.

I think that sometimes you just get lucky. I'm not sure if there is a whole lot of rhyme or reason to it. Maybe you just are at the right place at the right time. I think if you really want an upgrade then you should go ahead and pay for it so there isn't any disappointment.

At the values, I'm not sure there is anything to upgrade, unless it's into the preferred building.

Hi, DisneyObsessed! We leave in 2 weeks, too!! I don't want you to be disappointed if you don't get that great upgrade, but I have stayed over 30 times in the deluxes and NEVER once received an upgrade. Just dont count on it and dont let it ruin things for you if you don't run into that little bit of magic. I think by reading these boards, it seems as if they are just happening to EVERYBODY, when in fact they are not.

When we go this time, I am also going to be hoping for one, but the odds are not with me!! I will be at Dolphin CL (no room to upgrade there - and GF in the Sugar Loaf building - would LOVE to be upgraded to RPC!)

Have a great time and cross your fingers, but don't let it bring you down if it doesn't happen.

(oh, heres to hoping for cool weather in FL in two weeks!! lol)

We've stayed at the following deluxes with comp upgrades :cool1: :

WL 1st week Feb upgraded from standard to woodsview/castle view
BC 3rd week May upgraded from standard to waterview full balcony
Poly 3rd week Dec no upgrade

Deluxes we have been upgraded at: GF (garden to lagoon view both times), YC (standard to lagoon view). WL no upgrade, paid for CY, received it. CR many stays, always garden wing, no upgrade offered, Poly, garden, got room/building I requested (Samoa, volcano pool view, 3rd floor). Just back from POFQ, all I asked was do I have a good room/location and the snippy clerk said that all rooms are preassigned. Just go with a positive attitude and be friendly at check in and here's some pixie dust or you! I just switched our October trip from WL CY to water wing at the CR, hoping for a renovated room, keeping our fingers crossed!

All Star Movies, no upgrade, but got the section requested, ToyStory.

POR , no upgrade, but got one of the buildings and floor I requested.

Contemporary, I booked standard wing room with a code rate of $169.00 and we got upgraded to Tower Room facing MK without asking. It was on the lowest floor possible near Chef Mickey's so I was able to hear noise. But no complaints here  I didn't believe it and thought hubby paid for an upgrade since I was sitting in the car while my son was napping. But when I reviewed the bill it was true.

This was back in 2001 and was the last week of August in 2001 (POR and Contemporary) and December of 2001, All Star Movies, we received a postcard rate and couldn't refuse to go. :teeth:

Hopefully we will have the same good luck this November :wizard: Now I just have to decide where to stay.

upgrades at Disney ..for the most part are few and far between. it is only recently I have seen more people getting them. your May upgrade at the BC, I got also..I did get the samething also at the wl.

but if you really want a room type, pay the money...I would not count on a upgrade. they are all in all really hard to get.

but after going to disney over 21 times and staying at all deluxe resorts. this is the first time I got an upgrade. it was a nice suprise! but I will never count on it again.

I've been wondering about upgrades, have read about a few. Are these usually given without asking?? Does time of year have anything to do with it?

Would be nice, but not counting on it. Just hoping I get my request for room with view of MK.

We have been staying on-site since our honeymoon in 1983. The first time we got a complimentary upgrade was this July. We booked Polynesian LVC for the first 5 nights. We wanted to add an extra night and concierge was booked. Decided to try the Contemporary tower as I had always wanted to stay there. A couple of weeks before the trip we booked it and requested MK view. Our luggage was transferred and we went to the MK. Checked into Contemporary around 2:30 p.m. Very nice man checking us in and then assisted by a woman. Told us we got the MK view and the room # and that it was on the 11th floor. Got up to the 11th floor and couldn't find the room number. Checked with housekeeping and she said it was on the 12th floor. Now I know what the 12th floor is by reading these boards. So we get in the elevator, put our room key in the slot (and it works!). Still in disbelief, so checked in at the concierge desk and they said, yes - you got a complimentary upgrade! It was great! Only got to use it for breakfast since we were there only one night, but it was a nice upgrade.

We just got back from 7 nights at the WL.
We paid for a standard room, and was told at check-in that we were upgraded to courtyard view. Our rooms were 4132 and 4134. I really don't think they were court yard view rooms because we were facing the quiet pool and villas. I would have thought this was a lodge view. I never bothered to ask, becasue we were right near the elevator that went down to the pool, so it was very convenient and the balcony overlooked the quiet pool which was more relaxing that the courtyard pool.
But...can someone confirm that I had a lodge view and not a courtyard view?

Those are concidered "outer" courtyard views. We had the main pool area last OCtober and was told that that was "inner" courtyard view. I had to specifically request it. Oh yeah, I paid for it too!

If I paid for a courtyard view, and got the view I got I would have been very disappointed. Since I only paid for a standard view, it didnt bother me. But thanks for the heads up, so that if do happen to go again, and get a courtyard view, I will definately request an "inner" view.

Wow, I didn't think anyone ever got upgraded to Concierge. ::MickeyMo

In all of our trips, we've only been upgraded once...and that was at AKL from a standard view to a lovely pool view. At our several stays at GF, WL, YC, BC, and BWI we've never gotten a comp upgrade--we've usually gone value season, except for our stay at BWI (and one GF stay) which was during peak season (spring break). I've usually booked with AP rates. In my estimation, I would say deluxe upgrades are very rare! :sunny:
