Curious if anyone else has issues getting into the extremely high beds at Disney resorts? I understand the reasoning for Disney - storage space under the bed - but it is now IMPOSSIBLE for me to get into the bed. In my younger days I literally would do a running jump and hope for the best. I can not do that anymore - twice on different trips I asked if I could have a step stool but I was told they're not available. If I wasn't using an scooter and didn't have limited suitcase issues (can only carry what fits in backpack on scooter and in the rolling suitcase) I would bring a folding stepstool... So I got creative at ALL STAR Music last month - using a stable desk chair I put a very soft pillow on it - put my knee on it and lifted up! Then it was sort of a roll onto bed deal but I didn't hurt myself during the 10 nights and multiple launches into or out of bed. (had pillow on floor to land on) I'm currently under 5' and have a bunch of mobility related issues - and I can see how this could be impossible for many people.
I've never requested an accessible room - I'm wondering if those have lower beds?

The accessible rooms have very low beds - they seem slightly lower than standard bed height.

Several years ago, small step stools were available from Mousekeeping, but that option was discontinued, due to possible liability issues.

Have you considered bringing a very small step, which is lightweight, and collapsible? They are available from places like Target, Walmart, HomeGoods, Amazon, etc., for the $10-$16 price range.

This is from Target, but I have found a good variety of sizes, heights, and capacities at HomeGoods & TJMaxx.C3CBCAF2-76F4-416F-AF9B-D21032FF27BC.jpeg

I have that exact step stool.. which I use to access a taller stepstool.. LOL.. the issue is that I use a not so big rolling suitcase (because I'm using the scooter and need to roll alongside me - with a fairly huge backpack. I'm realizing that I can probably put the folded step stool into the backpack which is mounted on the back of the scooter seat. I honestly never thought of that! My next WDW stay is at Coronado Springs (April)- so I may see how this works then. I'm actually staying at the Aventura @ Universal in March - and I wonder how those beds are - I may bring the stool just in case. THANKS

I have a stool very similar to the one Gitelfor posted, and I LOVE it. As a tall person I rarely need it, but when I do I’ve found it very sturdy and stable. And it’s so light and folds so flat, I think it would fit easily in most checked luggage.

I'm assuming you are flying in, bringing your own scooter, so the above issues are for getting through the airport? If you can't transport the equipment you need, you can have it shipped to your resort and because it is medical equipment they shouldn't charge you the handling fee there. So just have a still shipped to your resort :-)

Not sure if a folding step stool qualifies (it is durable plastic.... but).. I'm fairly certain it will fit in the ginormic backpack I use on the scooter once it's folded. I honestly never thought about taking one with me but it is a really good idea. At home I use it to step onto a taller stepstool because I can no longer step up all that high - and the lower one would be awesome even if it's to boost onto the chair to get onto the bed. Generally I take only what I can carry in the backpack on the scooter or place in the rolling suitcase. But I'd be fine with ordering one for delivery to the hotel also because it really is something that is helpful.
