Disney Removing Do Not Disturb Signs

I particularly don't care for this with the pet friendly rooms.

First, I think a stranger would frighten my dog. She would be crated, but who knows what a stranger could do to your pet. Heck, they could even poison a pet and you wouldn't be able to prove anything. Also, this intrusion would probably get my quiet dog to become very loud and start barking and barking to no end.

I especially don't feel comfortable with teenagers being in the room alone and housekeeping decides to drop in. Say the parent went to the food court for food to bring back to the room and they stayed behind. Who knows what can happen.
I agree. I would never bring my dog now knowing this can happen. I’m sure that’ll make ppl opposed to the dog policy happy. And then that’ll set more dogs up for failure if strangers are coming in the room b/c they’ll probably bark.

I wouldn't bring my dog because I don't want to vacation with my dog. I leave my teens in hotel rooms alone all the time. They are almost adults you know. I think worrying about housekeepers harming your teenagers is a little extreme and paranoid. Worrying about housekeepers poisoning your dog is even weirder.

This is ridiculous. What does Disney hope to accomplish by scaring people and invading their privacy?? We sometimes don't even buy park passes. We just hang out. How can you relax wondering if you might have someone break in to your room? i won't be able to really relax in my room, especially if my husband is not there. If this is really about security, it is a joke. Just wait until after your room check to bring out your weapons!

Why? Why are you scared - what do you think is going to happen to you?

Let's be real, they are going to be banging on the doors whenever they feel like it so they can check it off their list. There is no way they will institute a sophisticated system where the guest puts in their preferred timeslot for entry.

I hope they are staffing up for this. They barely get the rooms clean as it is
I agree & that’s my problem with it. It does nothing. It’s a CYA symbol over substance move.

I think poisoning might be extreme. But, I would worry they let them out or something else or start them barking b/c they’re strangers in the room. My dogs can deal with noises outside but if they see someone they don’t know it might set them off..

Hotel GM here. Major brand. We go through DND as needed. That need is based on various factors

Example we won’t allow you more then 2 days with dnd. We have to check the room. We are going to reduce that to once a day also. Too many things can go wrong and many issues will try to be spun back on the hotel

Listen you rent the room. But the hotel has every right to enter. There are good and bad ways to present this to guests but at the end of the day hotel will get in the room
That's pretty much how I see it. Doesn't matter if I agree with it or not. Their hotel, their rules. Not mine. I don't like it, I don't stay there. Easy enough. It's not like I'm forced to stay there in order to go to Disney. I have choices. As does everyone else. So I guess I can't see the outrage.

Really? Poisoning your dog? You think that is what they are going to go around and do?
Or harm teens?
I just can't see how that's the leap someone would take here. What a strange turn
For the record, the signs on the door wouldn't have stoped someone intent on doing either of the above. Folks working at the resort can enter the rooms even before these new signs, if they needed to. A new sign didn't change that

My concerns are about theft or misplaced medical equipment and medication. We opt out of housekeeping to keep my sons insulin pump, cgm, and meters safe from anyone touching or walking away.

Not to mention, I do not want housekeeping or anyone near our toothbrushes, pillows, or anything else personal.

So we cancel our ten night trip for August or we lock EVERYTHING up each and everytime we leave the room.

Another thread ...............
WOW! This is outrageous! And heck yes, I would have a huge issue with some strange man viewing my naked daughters and scaring them. I am SO not okay with this, totally inappropriate - not even sure what words I should use to describe my feelings on this situation. And come to think of it, besides children, what if couples are having adult relations & someone barges in their room? I just don't know what to say...

I cannot speak for the previous poster, but due to a horrifying experience I am NOT okay being alone with strange men...and most certainly would be upset if one came into my room. And also the PP stated that they sometimes don't go to the parks but instead like to hang out & relax at their resort - what if they're engaging in intimacy while on vacation? Should they expect a stranger to barge in? I'm not okay with this at all.

I'm sorry you had a horrifying experience. :( And I certainly am not questioning your fear.

Thank you. To say that this is just security, no big deal ..... no words.

How about we take it a step further. All this finally becomes public knowledge that CMs (Housekeeping, Maintenance, Management etc aka a variety of uniforms) may knock on your door saying they need to come inside and check around. You trustingly let them in since you have been warned.

Who is to say they are Disney employees, no issue getting CM costumes online or coming up with a similar? One trip at POP I noticed two guys walking tapping on doors then jiggling on door knobs. Obviously they were seeing if there was empty rooms with doors ajar. I had no phone on me but did have my camera. I followed them, took their picture and as we made it closer to the main building I was going to go to find first CM I could. They saw me watching and took off for the parking lot. I went to front desk but they were long gone by time I got there.

My point, having guests expecting to let in strangers into their room to "look around" is an invitation for bad stuff to happen. So far all the reports have been male CMs entering the rooms while guests are there and it doesn't sound like they looked like Housekeeping. I just don't like the potential for a very unsafe situation being created in the name of security. Security that is a joke unless they plan to ransack our stuff. Any smart criminal keeps their stash hidden in suitcases, coolers etc.

In my opinion, this is starting to get ridiculous. No one is coming in to stare at you naked, rape you, take pictures of your children.

Annoy you while you or your child are napping? Sure, I can see how that is annoying. But this argument is just going to the extreme, which never proves a point.

Oh well, safety first.

It seems like just a matter of time before someone tries to target Disney with the way things are going in the world and I'd rather that be prevented and keep Disney a safe bubble.

And yet again people jump to hysteria about this, like the dog thing, rather than wait and see how it goes. I suspect their presence won't even be known.

Day one and a man has already entered a room uninvited. He approached the woman and her two naked daughters in their bathroom. Her husband returned to walk in to find him standing there. His presence was very much known and very inappropriate.

Did you read the incidence of the woman bathing her two daughters that @HopperFan posted above? That man's presence was most certainly known. I don't think that people are getting hysterical over this, many people have genuine concerns as to a strange man barging into their rooms - myself included.

And then I stopped listening. Where did it say "naked daughters" ? Stop it. In the bath, from a first time poster, posting today about a new policy.

I refuse to believe a cast member from Disney walked into a room and stared at two daughters under the age of 4, naked.
