Definitely think it was the right choice to remove his bust although i can see them all going before long anyway. Does make me wonder though why Caption EO is still going
Big part of it that is the lack of any better, fresh and proprietary IP to put in that theatre.
The only reason EO went into HS in the first place was because Jackson's death made his then somewhat declining brand visible again and Disney saw that as convenient way to address a nagging problem (replacing the increasingly dated HISTA).
Now that Jackson's reputation has declined, Disney is in the proverbial pickle: if they pull EO they lose yet more attraction capacity in a park that desperately needs it. But by keeping EO open, yes, they are opening themselves up to being seen as hypocritical, by treating two celebrities in similar situations differently. Both have an ugly scandal in their background but have not been found legally liable. One gets a free pass, the other doesn't.
Whatever. I'm glad the bust of Cosby is gone. We don't need to be celebrating a predator like that. I was telling the boys in my Scout Troop just yesterday the whole "you can't judge a book by its cover" story. Is it ever true of Bill Cosby. I thought he was one of the few really "good guys."
...and Disney never should have brought Captain EO out of storage anyway. They shelved the dated HISTA for the EVEN MORE DATED Cap EO. It's groan-worthy, with or without its probable pedophile star. The sooner it goes away, the better.
