Disney Quest?

DQ rocks!~ It's great, the interactive things are so cool, you can access the internet; eat at the Cheesecake Factory, create animation, heck, it's a blast!

My kids love it, my wife hates it. Two hours is about all I can take. It is loud, lots of flashing lights and very cave-like (claustrophobic). It is nice to play coin op games to your hearts content without putting in quarters or tokens.

We experienced it as a family for the first time last week (DH 45, me 50, DS14 and DD11). We have ultimate park hoppers and they came with 5 bonus visits to DQ and the water parks, etc. My family wasn't sure about the whole thing but when my husband walked up to the old pinball machines, pacman and donkeykong, etc. he felt like he had found old friends. Our kids did the Cyberspace Mountain roller coaster thing about 20 times in a row. We did all the family type virtual reality games. We raced cars as a family too. DD loved the "Create" area where she could learn animation and make her own cd's. Hubby was reluctant to even go then we ended up spending 11 hours in the place, stopping just long enough to eat lunch (at 2) and supper at 9) then hubby marched us all back as fast as possible and they had to throw us out at closing. Definitely got our money's worth. I did not notice very many young cm's, the people at the Cyberspace mountain were all retirement age. I would have to say that I would avoid this place totally when the crowd level is high. The noise and chaos would be extremely unpleasant. I did notice that by the end of the night my ears kind of tingled due to the high pitched noise in the place. They were o.k. by the next day. If one of your family gets bored, they can exit with their ticket and re-enter later. I left twice, just to go get some air and sunshine and warm up a little.

I am thinking abot visiting DQ for the first time soon. Everyone keeps going on about the cheesecake factory......

is this a cheescake factory

or a food outlet that sells cheescake?????

thing is my partner needs some persuasion to go as he is a bit sceptical but this whole cheesecake thing might just do it :sunny:

While my spouse and DD were at the princess tea party, my DS and I went over to DQ.

5 floors of video games, most the type you'd see in any arcade, and just a handful of virtural reality games. We did like "Ride the Comics", Pirates of the Carribbean," and Aladdin. The Buzz Lightyear bumper cars with cannons were a lot of fun too.

It was a day my DS enjoyed, playing video games. Crowds not too big at opening (11:30 AM), but got large as the day went on. Lines seemed to move along quickly. CMs were friendly and talkative right after opening, but as the day went on the crew changed and they became less interested in talking to customers.

Food court was pretty good. Some great wraps and salads, so they musta known parents would be coming along.

All day ticket cost 2 of us a total of about $60. They will let you leave and come back on the same day on the same ticket.

DQ is great! We never miss it. On our last trip, my husband and two sons, ages 13 and 15, spent the whole day there. I wasn't in the mood for it this time, so I spent my time shopping at DTD. This isn't something that I usually get to do since I don't have daughters, so it was a real treat for me. Anyway, if your tickets aren't included with your WDW tickets, get them from Ticketmania. They always have the best price, and are great to work with. Enjoy!

Oh yeah, the Cheesecake Factory is not the restaurant. It's a counter service thing where you can order lunch. They are definitely part of the chain, just a small version. So they do sell cheesecake.

All I can say is, ITS A BLAST! spent 4 hours in there in one session, didnt realize the time, till DW tracked me and DD,DS, DD. :rolleyes1
Then she spent additional hour in there herself ! :rotfl2:

Cheesecake Factory (http://www.cheesecakefactory.com/) is a national chain known for good food and... Cheescake. The counter-service location on the 5th floor serves wraps, burgers, pizza, etc. It is not the regular menu, but relative to Disney food prices I think it's good food for the money. On the 4th floor (I believe) you can find their name-sake cheesecakes. :earboy2:

Hi, figment7413. Could you tell me how you bought the advance-purchase tickets...did you call Disney and order, or do it online? (When I go online, it tells me to buy them at the entrance... no discount for advance purchase)

This sounds like sooo much fun.

Wow, I am in the minority. I did not enjoy DQ at all. Of course, my DS's 8 and 6 loved it, but I think I will pass next time. For the $120ish dollars we paid to get in, we would have had a better time at the arcade at CR. DQ is not a typical arcade. It is an indoor themepark. I felt like the lines were so long for everything! Hardly any of the regular (ie: not virtual reality) games were available. Someone was playing everything. I felt like we walked around a lot looking for something that was available. Now, if you go into DQ knowing that, it probably won't be a big deal. I also left with a SCREAMING headache. I think we will wait until our boys are old enough to go on their own. For now, we will stick to the CR arcade and probably spend a whole lot less money.

Busy!

It's busy enough to be a block out date for Cast Comp tickets.

The good stuff (Cheesecake) is on the 4th floor.

As to the crowd level over Christmas -- I was told that if the local schools are out you can expect large crowds. They had to turn people away the last week before school started in Aug 2003. When we were there the following week, no problems.

Remember that Disney Quest is now included in the Water Parks & More option.
