Disney quest

How much does it cost to play the old school arcade games? surely it has to cost more than the original 25 cents, but am i wrong?

It's a separate ticket - not part of your park tickets. It's $47.94 for 10+ and $41.94 for kids.

It's also the "more" in water parks and more. So if you get a 5day-WP+More ticket you get 5 days of admission to the four parks (1 per day) and 5 days of admission to either a water park or DQ. Gives you 10 vacation days of admission.

We have the premium annual pass this year so I am not worried so much about cost more so if it is worth our time. We will be getting into WDW about 7pm on a Sunday and we were going to start with downtown disney.

Since you have the PAP, I would say it's worth your time. We've had the PAP the past two years and typically spend half a day each trip at DQ. Sometimes DS and DH go more than that while DD & I shop.

We went on our last trip to WDW. Our family is REALLY into video games, so I figured this would be a huge hit. We are generally a very easy-going family and tend to make the most of thing... not big complainers... BUT... We will not be going back. A few thoughts:

1. Don't pay full price to get in!!! We are a family of four, so we had two free passes from our package, but we still had to buy two admission tickets. I saved quite a bit by ordering the kids' tickets from Undercover Tourist before we traveled.

2. There are a ton of games there, but at least at the time we were there, many of them were out of order or malfunctioning in some way. It seems like the whole place was really just in disrepair. It was a constant source of frustration to the kids to see a game, rush over excited to play it, and then find it not working, OR to start playing a game (especially the pinball machines) and discover that one of the flippers barely works or something critical to the game is malfunctioning, which makes you lose lives prematurely. It was just kind of a bummer.

3. There were MANY unsupervised kids there, which means that there was no one policing time anyone spent on any of the games. Sooooo... My kids were often waiting patiently to play a particular game for a long time, while the kid playing just didn't care. Another source of frustration, especially when so many of the games that actually looked free weren't working! Not Disney's fault, of course... Just another frustrating issue.

4. Another thing to consider is how sensitive you and your party might be to noise and other sensory stimulation. We have spent MANY hours in arcades and are generally not noise-sensitive, but NOTHING prepared us for how loud DQ became once it got crowded!!! It was literally deafening... Not necessarily a deal-breaker, but I wished we had brought earplugs along with us. If you decide to go, it would be worth it to stick a few pairs of earplugs in your bag just in case it starts to get to you!

5. Am I glad we went and checked it out? Sure. It was something new to experience... But had we paid full price for all four of our tickets, I probably would feel differently. Even with only paying for two tickets, I still feel like the value we got out of being there (which ended up being about 2-2.5 hours) was not really equal to what we paid.

Your mileage may vary, of course. But hopefully this gives you a little more to consider as you decide whether or not to go!

Sorry if this has been mentioned a million times before but with Disney Springs changes well into affect, are there any plans to do anything with Disney Quest whether updating it or replacing it with something else.

I was never exactly blown away by it when i went.

Not sure what they would do with it. It's WDWs red headed step child but they need it to soak up some of the crowds and they don't need another 100,000 Sq ft empty building. Its too big to fail. :) I wouldn't expect a ton of investment just enough to maintain the status quo.

Not many people know it was the flagship for 20 or so locations throughout the world. It was going to be a way for Disney to spread park like experiences without building a "real" park.

They built another one in Chicago and broke ground in Philly before the program was killed. It just never took hold as people didn't know what it really was and didn't want to pay $40 for an arcade.

I got a coupon for free entrance because I booked threw Disney. There was also a coupon for 100 free tokens. What are those used for if games are free? I'm doing a split stay so I got a coupon book for each of the hotel stays. I've never been but since it's free, and I love old school video games (child of the 80s) I'll probably kill a few hours there during my ten days.

The tokens are intended for use at the resort arcades.
