Tell me all about Disney Quest.

Is it a good place to let DS 16 and DD13 have some fun while me and Mrs have a drink or two some where in DTC?

Does it get crazy crowded(we will be there week after Easter)?

What is it like inside?

Any decent discounts avialble?

Disney Quest is our DS' favorite place at WDW. If your boys are gamers, they will love it. It gets very, very crowded on weekend nights, with waiting lines for the most popular games. We only go during the day, when it is too hot to be in the other parks. It is noisy inside, but there are tons of games with different themed sections. They always have the newest, coolest games, so no worries there. There are two different counter service eateries for your boys to grab a snack. The only problem I see with leaving them alone is that we had VERY spotty cell coverage, so checking up on them, if you felt the need, would be difficult. Sorry, we always get this as part of the "Water Park and More" ticket, so I don't know anything about discounts.

Our boys were 13 and 16 last year when we went and they love DQ. My wife and I usually do something else while they have fun, but we sometimes head to the top floor in DQ, where all of the games from our era are at. What a blast playing games like Galaga, Pac Man, Centipede, etc...

We visited DAQ for the first time this past trip (Jan 19-26) with very, very light WDW crowds. The kids waited for nothing at all except the pirate game and that was still a manageable wait.

I stuck to 9 year old DD like glue because she is so small and gullible. 11 year old DS was given free reign. We had a rendezvous point and I checked there for him every once in a while.

At one point, I noticed I had a missed call from a (407) exchange and calling back, the number was no good. I asked where they would take a lost child and no one seemed to know so I guess they don't have a plan in place like the parks.

I found my son sitting in a chair near the exit in the care of a cast member who had given him a soda. DS claimed to have felt dizzy but I suspect that he had just gotten a little nervous when he couldn't find me.

We returned the next night and I armed them each with a cell phone. I set up a laptop in the restaurant on the fifth floor. They found me when they got hungry. I ordered them food. Then DH called me and invited me to Splistville Lanes for a date night. I left the kids at DQ and had a nice dinner. Picked them up a while later. Everyone was happy.

To answer your question about what it is like. It is five stories of video games, arcade games and interactive games. Other than for food, no money needed unless you want to play one of the three games where you can try to grab a prize. It is loud and very maze like. It is near impossible to find anyone if they are on the move so have cell phones and a strategy (like - meet at XX o'clock).

A CM told us that when the weather is bad DQ gets crowded because no one wants to be outside. He said that when it is crowded, you can end up waiting quite a while to play games.

I don't understand the discount question. Do you mean discounts to get in? We have AP with Water Parks & More so DQ is included. I think it was $45 per person otherwise.

Actually, they do have a discounted price usually for the last three hours at night for like $20 which is a great way to try it out before shelling out the full day price.:)

If I may ask a quick question about DQ are the games "free" or do you pay admission to get in and then feed the games?

We are going in August as we are getting the water park and more option.

It's like your admission to any of the theme parks - unless you are purchasing something to take away (like a prior poster said, there are one or two games where you make something to take away, and they are clearly marked with CMs present), once you pay admission all the 'attractions' are free. Play one of everything or spend an hour on a single machine (so long as there's not somebody standing behind you waiting to use it too. I don't think there's an absolute posted rule except just to be polite and take turns).

DH and I still go even though we are now there without kids. They have everything from high-tech Virtual Reality games to classic pinball machines. We've actually not gone there to get out of the rain but we sure have gone there to get out of the sun, when somebody overdid it the day before at a water park. And a number of the games are sit-down types so it makes a nice break after you've walked your feet off for a few days in the parks.

I think I saw two of those claw type games where you could (potentially) win a prize. They took money. Every thing else is totally free (except food).

FYI - if you get a vacation package through WDW you get 2 tickets with your room

Some video games can make some people dizzy. It probably has something to do with the video refresh rate like 60 Hz or 70 Hz. Some people might be sensitive to one rate, other people sensitive to a different rate, etc..

I got dizzy playing Disney Quest's virtual reality and also on some of the video games that used standard definition CRT (picture tube) screens. This was several years ago before many video games had LCD screens.

I'd just get a drink or two at Raglan Road and then join the kids..:)

I just got back from a week long trip and since Wednesday was 48 degrees, rainy, and windy, my boyfriend and I decided to go to Disney Quest. First time there for us, and we had a great time. We spent a few hours there, then went over to Raglan Road for lunch, then back to Disney Quest. We spent over four hours in Disney Quest and had a blast. Some people think it's all video games, but our favorite attractions were "Cyber Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Alladin's Magic Carpet Ride, The raft ride, and the VR comic ride on the 5th floor. Some of the names might not be exact, but they were all either simulator, 3D large screen, or virtual reality headset attractions. Some of the video games were fun too as they had all the classics and some that we've never seen before. We plan on going again during our May trip.

The building it's in is five floors and over 100,000 sq. ft. There is a cafeteria on the fifth floor, and a sweet shop on the fourth, along with games/attractions one those floors as well. It is located on the West Side next to La Nouba. Entrance four to DTD has the parking lots closest to it. There is an elevator and stairs to get around, as well as a coat check on the first floor if you need it.

Yes! October, we have three rooms, therefore, 6 free admish to DQ. This is a great perk since it's saving us about $300.
