I just read an article on Jim Hill Media that DQ is going to be closing in early 2008 and turned into an ESPN Zone and that the ESPN club at BW will be closed. Jim Hill Media

I'm not a DQ fan, to me for the money is not enough to keep interest. Too bad, because the concept is excellent for pre-teens and teens and some young adults.

I know I was so excited about going for the 1st time, but it was not what I was expecting about reading about it. My boys still had fun, but I didn't and I love video games.

No tears here. I really don't like DQ - except for the cheesecake - I'll miss that. ;)

But, I feel bad for those who love it - and so many do. It's a great place for rainy days and evenings, to get a break from the parks.

My son will not be happy to hear this. :guilty:

We go to DQ at 2-3 times each trip. We'll miss it, but change is good, right?

I was not a fan of Disney Quest. I absolutely hated the lighting in there. It was like you were trapped in a noisy dark cave-like building.

As for ESPN Zone, I probably wouldn't make a special trip there but it seems to be a more likely place for it than the Boardwalk!

Sounds pretty reasonable. Any indications what will go into the ESPN slot on the BoardWalk? I'm figuring that maybe they'll turn it into some rental function space.

This is the second time around for this particular rumor. I remember it circulating pretty heavily maybe two years ago.

I think this sounds great!! DH is a huge sports fan and will love it. We went to DQ once and that was enough for us. Not our thing. I can see how kids would like it.

my kids love DQ, I hope this isn't true. While ESPN Zone is fun it's not pay one price so it can be expensive for a family to go. :confused3

I hope not, my son will be disappointed, as someone else said, it is great for teens. Although, ESPN zone does sound interesting. Wishing they would just put it somewhere else and leave DQ alone. :)

If true, it wouldn't be unexpected. DisneyQuest has been living on borrowed time since 2001. At this point it is still fun, but expecting guests to continue to dish out close to $40 to play ten-year old computer technology couldn't last forever.

Not sure if we went to DQ at the wrong time of day, but it was so busy and very stuffy, and the lighting is bad as mentioned above, but if it's still there next visit, I may give it another try!

We quite liked it for a few hours in the evening. Our friends boys will be guttted at 9 and 11 they loved it in there !!!! Wouldnt pay to go in, however with hopper ticket it is fun.

We would miss DQ! If you go at the right time, it isn't crowded, nicely air conditioned, love the cheesecake factory. We are not sports fans so we would never visit if it changes to ESPN zone. I do think however that the ESPN at the BW is crowded, maybe a bit too small if there are any playoffs going on.

This would make my tattoo even more obscure! Cool! :thumbsup2

We won't be too disappointed if it does happen. The only time we've ever been willing to give up park or pool time to go over there is on a rainy day. Guess what? That's when EVERYONE else wants to go too! :scared1: It was pretty cool, but with the noise level and crowds, it made me nuts!

I know it's a long shot, but I think it would be just peachy of WDW to acknowledge the fact they've taken an option away be adjusting the pricing of premium annual passes, and the water parks fun 'n more option.

I know it probably won't happen, but wouldn't it be lover-ly? :teeth:

I suspect that it would be reflected in a decrease in the amount they'd increase the price of the PAPs, on the next renewal or purchase.

We havent quite made it to the DQ age yet (DSs are 6 & 9), but I was thinking in the next few years we would make a visit. Im not too upset about that loss, but I am bummed that ESPN will not be at the BW. It was always nice to walk there from Epcot for lunch, or other times when staying at the Epcot Resorts we could easily walk over. We liked to do this for lunch on our arrival day. Getting to DTD always seems like such a hassle.

Besides the obvious fact that the attractions in DQ are becoming outdated, the floor plan of the place has always been a disaster. The "stacked" floor set up is so claustrophobic, especially on a rainy evening - I always wondered who dreamed that up, and how it got past the boardroom table.
