We are arriving around 3pm on our first day at Disney. We're staying at the Holiday Inn in Downtown Disney and I was contemplating going to DisneyQuest to kill time in the afternoon if the pools at the hotel aren't too great.

Are there fun things for two 7 and 8 year old girls to do at Disney Quest? I perused the site and it looks like most of the games, etc. are kind of scarey......they get freaked out when I play Frogger on playstation if there is a scarey part to it.......any suggestions?

Thanks!

DQ is a lot of fun if they like video games. There are plenty of games of all flavors. They have games like centipede, astroids, pac-man to state of the art VR games. One of my favorites was a simulator where you can build a rollercoaster of your own specifications and then ride it! Way cool.

That being said, I'd like to recommend something else. I get the feeling from your post that it wouldn't be their favorite way to spend an afternoon. Believe it or not, just walking around DTD is a lot of fun. They have incredible stores. My guys could have spent hours playing outside the LEGO store. There is a lot to look at too. I'd go, have an early dinner, check out the marketplace, and then hit up Ghiridelli (ok, I'm totally butchering the spelling) for a sundae. Their stuff is awesome.

Have fun.

I agree DTD is a great place to spend extra time. There's also a neat little magic shop where they do demonstrations and sell tricks etc. My boys enjoyed Disney Quest. At ages 4 and 6 they were a little young; however the highlight was Pirates of the Caribbean virtual reality game and it was a blast but it would give some children the willies I think!! My 6-yr-old loved making his own CD, and there are lots of creative things to do at DQ. But since most of it is built around VR and video games that are a bit edgy, sounds like DTD would be the best choice.

Ghirardelli's (sp??) is awesome!! And your bucks might be best spent at Lego or the big toy store. There's also a little run-through fountain that lots of kids were enjoying.

We have a premium annual pass so our admission was free. We spent about 3 hours there and found little for my kids to enjoy. Ages 8,7, and 5. Some cool things but I agree DTD would be more fun

I don't lnow if this will help, but here are some of the things I can think of at DQ:

1) Older video games: assteroids, centipede, pac-man, etc...
2) Newer video games: Star Wars pod racing; driving motorcycles, cars, etc... These can actually link together so you can race each other; lots of others
3) VR games: Pirates of the Carribean (you shoot pirate ships with cannons); Magic Carpet; others
4) simulators: Make your own rollercoaster; rafting; there are others that I can't think of right now
5) Animation: There are a couple of places where they will teach you about animation. I can think of one where they teach you how to draw a specific character. I think they did it every half horu while we wer there.
6) Computer games: My son loved one where you can take a picture and manipulate it. He took a picture of his Dad and put funny ears, etc.. on him.
7) Physical games: Skeetball (sp?), air hockey
8) Other: There is a game where you are a pinball. You jump around on this thing that looks sort of like a segway and try and accumulate points. There is also a Buss Lightyear game where you drive around in something like a bumper car. I think you also shoot balls. I'm not sure on this. There is a 51 inch height limit, so one of my twins couldn't do it. We had to skip it.

Ok, that is all that I can think of off the top of my head. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know if you have to pay for these games in addition to the admission fee or is it included?

One you get inside I believe all the games are free. i'm am almost 100% on this except for the arcade games. Everything else I know is fee.:earsboy:

Almost everything is free. The first time I went, I noticed a small group of games that you could play to win tickets. These tickets were redeemable for prizes. I am not sure what those machines cost to play. We never played any of them. By far, the vast majority is free. The last time we went, I didn't even see any of the ticketed machines. I want to say they were up by the food court. Who knows, maybe they got rid of them. Anyone see them lately?
