We want to spend 1 day at DQ with our 3 kids 8, 7 and 1. How much extra expense will there be besides admission.
What kinds of extra activities do they have that cost money?
Which ones are worth it?
Is the arcade where you pay for games really great or should we just skip this part?

Any extra expenses would be for food and any take-home souvenirs like a make-your-own CD from the Radio Disney Soundmaker or a videotape of the rollercoaster ride you made at Cyber SpaceMountain.

The pay-to-play arcade is not that impressive. The ones found in the resorts are just as good if not better. I would either skip it or spend very little there.

Be aware that DQ does not allow strollers inside. The 1YO will either need to walk or be carried the whole time and there will not be a lot there for her/him.

Thanks for the tip about the stroller- Do you think that if I order tickets from Ticketmania today that I will get them within 2 weeks?

I have ordered some DQ tickets from Ticketmania and they arrived within one week, though that has been a couple of months ago. The holiday seems to be slowing the mail down here now, as some things I am expecting still have not arrived. I am planning to swing by Ticketmania and pick up some extra tickets for DQ. I think there is some kind of in store promotion for ticket pick up. You may want to try this to make sure you get your tickets. There is a map on their website to the store.

I agree about the one year old. Maybe you can take turns with the baby and stroll him/her around DTD or do some other activity. I am not planning on taking my 3 y/o grandson to DQ, but I'm sure in a couple of years he will love this place!

Thanks for the info about not allowing strollers. I had no idea about that. That would make it harder for us taking the older boys and also having to chase a 2 yr old around. Maybe I'll take the boys at night while DH puts the girls to bed early.

This is the promotion they're running for ticket pick-up...sounds like a pretty good deal (probably a $20 value) just for stopping by. Then again, I am a mini golf fanatic and love trying new courses out (especially for FREE) :teeth:

"Come in to the store and purchase your tickets (Printer Friendly Page), or order Online and do an office pick up and receive a Free 20 Minute Phone Card and a Free Round for Two of Mini Golf at Tiki Island Adventure Golf (About 2 Minutes from our store)."

I ordered my DQ tickets last month from Ticketmania and they came in about 6 days. Recently, I ordered a Universal pass and that came in aobut 4 days.

How much is the make your own CD? Can my girls do it together as a duet or do they each need to make their own?

Maggie

I would also like to know the prices of the "extras" in Disney Quest. How much to receive your recorded song, etc?

Thanks!

If I remember right, it was about $10-$15 for each one of the extras at Disney Quest that you might purchase. Admission gives you access to all the main attractions. These are the things that I remember really costing money and are truly optional. You could tell your kids that they can each pick one of these to take home or something like that to keep the budget under control. I don't remember the official names of these, but they include:

-Printing out a copy of your "magic mirror" image.
-Taking home the art you made at your Disney animation lesson and a certificate of some type that you took the class.
-making a personalized CD from Radio Disney
-getting a copy a VHS tape of your create your own roller coaster.
-Taking home the toy you created at Sid's create a toy computer stations (based on Toy Story).

I am pretty sure that the above are about $10-15 a piece. This is nice in that one is affordable. However, it is also inexpensive enough, that it is easy to overspend and buy them all!

Oh-needer-land??? Like the Oh-need-ers from "That Thing You Do"? ;)

My son has been going to DQ for four or five years now (basically since it opened), and other than getting a snack at the Cheesecake Factory which is generally around or under $5, he seldom spends anything extra.

One of the best souvenirs of our trips to WDW is the printout of our animation classes at DQ. If I remember correctly the last one we did cost $5. You don't need to buy the printout but I think it's a cheap souvenir. I get one every time we go. It comes in a mat folder with a personalized certificate and some flyers about animation. The results show I'll never be an animator but it's great fun. I've enjoyed it so much I bought a book on animation after the animation tour at MGM.

As a side note, we all love the food at DQ. Price is reasonable and serving size is generous. We plan an entire day for DQ every trip.

How much is that videotape? Can you use Disney Dollars?

the music CD is $10 but it is not the kind you sing on. At least the one my daughter made. it was a fill in the blank kind on song. You pick the music and the title song and then they start the song and you pick from a choice of options how to finish the sentence, My daughter did hers on Not growing up. Something like " Went i grow up I will not__________. It was cute.
But when her boyfiend did his he made the mistake of saying it was made by Master P which is a sports nickname for him but is a copyright name so they could not sell it to him.
Ok so you can get mad at me but if I knew then what I know now, I would have taken my camcorder in the booth with them and videod the playback. At least this way he could have gotten the song he worked so hard on.

As for your main question. We had great fun playing on all the race cars. They are free to play and we had a ball. The kids also played Dance Dance Revelation. Which they just loved. I myself had a good time playing the old pinball and Burgertime video game. There is a lot to do that is free.

If this has already been posted somewhere, I apologize, but I just bought Disney Quest tickets from ebay for $10 off the gate price with free shipping and handling. No auction - it was a buy it now offering.

Several of the discount ticket places I researched wanted between $10 and $13 for shipping (ridiculous!) so thought this was a good deal. Received the tickets within a week.
