As a religion org BSA why would the support the gay movement when the major of org religion is against it?

It s all about $$$ A lot of corporations stopped giving to the BSA due to their ban on gays. The BSA saw the $$ leave and changed their policy due to public pressure.

I was a cub scout chairman and a scoutmaster for years. I have lost scouts because the parents objected to one of the following
The ban on gays,
The acceptance of gays,
the pro religious part of the program
We are sponsored thru the Catholic Church but myself and the cub master were protestant so we lost a few scouts because of that.

I have a good friend who was the scoutmaster of a troop that was sponsored thru a Christian school. When the ban on gay scouts was lifted the school's leadership and headmaster dissolved the troop. The headmaster said "boy scouts have lost their moral compass"

As I see it no matter what the BSA does there will be people not happy.

I have seen firsthand that the GSA does gender discriminate. I only have sons but I have had cub scout dads who have girls try to be leaders in their girls troop and were told that men are not allowed to be GS leaders. I know of a boy scout troop near me who's scoutmaster is a woman.

Now as for the atheists the last line of the scout law is "A scout IS reverent"
a scout has 3 duties, first to God, second to country, and third to self.

Scouting is a wonderful program that teaches boys many valuable lessons. The US military gives a rank upgrade to eagle scouts because they know these boys are scouting's best.

BTW I am a proud father of a life scout who is only his project away from being an eagle.

I think the answer to THAT question is because of the age of the "leaders". I don't know that I'd trust "young" leaders (of either sex) to always make the best decisions.

I wasn't blaming him on doing it because of being bisexual. Maybe I'm looking at it too simply.

Heterosexual... attracted to members of the opposite sex.
Homosexual... attracted to members of the same sex.
Bisexual... attracted to members of both sexes.

Maybe you're right. Maybe it is just a power thing. It just seems strange to me that someone who is ONLY attracted to members of the opposite sex finds ANY members of the same sex attractive.

I never said heterosexuals are attracted to ALL members of the opposite sex.

But you are ONLY attracted to females, right? So you would be classified as heterosexual.

In my mind, if you are attracted to males AND females, regardless of the age, then you would be considered "bisexual".

It goes back to the objectification of the victim point I mentioned a few posts back. I'm going to try not to be too graphic here: A person may use 'toys' for gratification but they do so because it's an object to serve their needs, not because they're sexually attracted to plastic. That's how predators view their child victims. They don't see children as boys or girls to be attracted to in the same way one would be attracted to men or women, they see them as objects to be used for gratification.

With the Boy scouts we are talking about young men so you are agreeing you wouldn't let your son go with 2 young gay men.

As far as the trip , I guess you don't get Scouting, that is what they do! They go camping which like the trip last year involved canoeing to islands that were un-accessible except by canoes, caring everything they needed for a week.

I have no problem with human sexuality.

As a leader for 8 yrs of girls scouts and many trips and yes camping. I have no problem with camping trips.

Boys can control them selfs just as well as girls they both explore. That is a fact of life.

You are the one trying to put something sexual into Boy Scout camping trip.

I get the point but I think you are wrong.

If you don't agree with gay equal rights, that's fine, there are lots of things I personally don't agree with.

But to make sex between to consenting adults dirty just screams religion bigotry.

I originally said 13-15 yr old boys with young men leaders of say college age.

several posters said they would let their daughters go with young women but not young men and I asked why? I then asked do they think women can control themselves better no matter what their sexual orientation is. and no one answered that.

I don't care what 2 adults do in their bedroom, that isn't the question here.
