Disney professional interships

So I am applying to about 5 alumni only PIs. I know we have to send our resume in right? also, if there's a resume, do we need a cover letter for each position we are applying for? do we need a cover letter at all? I just wanted to know because I can do my resume, but I've actually never done a cover letter. Let me know!

I don't think I read a single cover letter, or had a single positive thought after reading a cover letter the two times I was involved in hiring a professional intern. There's probably about a 90% chance it won't even get attached with your résumé and interview notes. I wouldn't waste time.

I also wouldn't time applying to more than about three PIs. We could see how many you applied for and where you ranked them, and if it was about more than 3 it went straight to the bottom of my pile. Ditto if ours wasn't even top three.

Well that's kind of discouraging to hear. I was hoping to apply to about 5 or 6 for Fall 2014.

If they are all the same discipline then there is nothing wrong with applying for as many as they offer. As in all graphic design ones, or all accounting/finance ones, all marketing, etc. That does show you want to be in your field of choice. Just make sure to explain to the recruiter why so many and explain how they are all related PI's.

My husband applied to 4 or 5 and is currently on his extended MI. They didn't count it against him that he was interested in multiple fields but they only interviewed him for his experienced profession which was just fine.

So I know for the alumni only PIs it's ok to apply later but is that the same for the ones that aren't? I'm only applying for two that aren't alumni only but I think one is going to be in my top 3. I just want to wait until after I get down there and I have the last arrival date which is next week so I feel bad waiting so long haha.

When you interview, your application is put in a pile until the applications close and then hr starts to look at them. It's not fair to the later candidates. Very rarely will you see any movement until after the closing of postings. It's not like the CP

Pi programs run June to January and January to June. There are an extremely limited number of roles that aren't that date but they are basically nonexistent.

so I think the apps are up now for the Jan-June. Does that mean applications for June- Jan will be up around Feb?

Quick question. I had my phone screen this past Thursday with Tricia. I think it went great. We talked for 34 minutes. I was screened for the Theme Park Ops mgmt role. My dash showed interview stage and is now back in the progress stage. Is this a positive or negative thing? Was also told decision by November 25 or sooner.

There are probably thirty or so stages in Kenexa and very few of them actually update what stage you are at. I was I interview stage up until about 8 months after my PI started.

About the only thing it shows reliably is when you are no longer being considered for the role. Have applications closed yet? If not, no one has even glanced at your file yet.

In progress normally means someone is looking at the file. At least for MIs. It is neither a positive or negative, it just is. Your goal is to get a 2nd interview for the MIs. Good luck!

Thanks guys! Window closes this Friday, 13 for MI. When you say no one has looked at my file I am a bit confused. I had my phone screen which means a recruiter has looked at it, no?

Nobody involved in the hiring process at all really. When I was involved in HR, we couldn't even pull files until after it closed.

Ok. The application says please account for the past 10 years of your experience. Since I took off my first 'job' from my resume I didn't put it but it was within 10 years. It was just a paper route but from what it says I should have put it. Is it a big deal? I had that for about 5 years... I doubt there's a way to add it now though. ahhhh.

It probably won't be too big a deal. I would mention it though if you speak with recruiting again and it is something I would talk about somehow. Those routes are hard work and doing it for 5 years shows dedication IMO.

My resume says my anticipated graduation date is December 2013, but on LinkedIn I can't put 2013 or else it will say I already graduated, so I put it as 2014. Do you think if someone from Disney saw that they would think I'm lying on my resume?
