Has anyone ever gone to the Princess Tea Party? I checked the prices of some of the other character meals, which seem pretty reasonable, but the Tea Party seems outrageous. For the 4 of us it is $400!! Is it worth it?? Or should we do a more reasonable priced character meal?

Are u talking about the teaparty with Aurora? We went with dd6 an dn4 they loved it and got alot of attention, a doll, braclet, tiara, scrapbook pages, a rose. I would do it again in a heartbeat. If you have a son I heard they give teddybears instead of dolls. I did not take ds's.

Yes, with Aurora, I believe it's at the Grand Floridian.

Do you know how many people are usually there at the same time?

guests? I would say between 20-30 kids plus the adults. They really gave a lot of attention to each of the kids but you can ask how many can be seated when you call. It lasts 2hrs.

When we went, it was mostly mothers and daughters, with a few dads mixed in. I sent DH and DS to Blizzard Beach so we could have a girls day.

I thought it was pricey for what it was: DD did not eat any food or cake. It was very cute. We probably wouldn't do it again.

Just went on Friday with my 3 kids (1 Snow White-6, 1 Sleeping Beauty-5 and 1 Peter Pan-3)
It was pricey, but full of Disney Magic for the kids:wizard: . They really gave all the kids a lot of attention. My kids liked the dolls and other goodies, but didn't eat the food. They were too entranced by the party. I would recommend eating the KIDS food, as I thought the adult plate was stale. My girls didn't buy the Rose Petal Princess thing, but were thrilled when Aurora came out at the end.
My son was the only boy there, but he is still too little to mind. He got a bear instead of a doll, and a prince crown instead of a tiara.
There were a handful of Dads and Grandads.

We also did the Alice in Wonderland Tea Party on Monday. Less money and the kids had a great time (they did it last year as well) The parents do not go in for that one, and the kids must be over 4, so my son stayed with me.

I will do them both again, if my kids choose; but for the money, I think the Alice tea is a better deal.:goodvibes

Here is my response--

Excerpt (and picts) from my trip report. princess:

The Perfectly Princess Tea Party at the Grand Floridian was just adorable. There were only about 20 girls there, mostly with their moms, all decked out in their Princess finery. Each girl was announced before entering the tea. She was given a tiara and showered with rose petals by our hostess, Rose Petal. When they got to their seats, there was a My Disney Girl doll (similar to American Girl) dressed as Sleeping Beauty awaiting each little girl. They were all so excited! Then, when they opened up their napkins, each girl found a charm bracelet. “Ooooooh!” They were given “magic tea” (apple juice) and the moms got real tea. Julia insisted on adding several lumps of sugar to hers! She had such fun having a real life tea party. The girls had little finger sandwiches cut in the shape of hearts and fruit to eat. (Most of the girls received PBJs, but we pre-ordered a jam only plate, as Julia is allegic to peanuts.) Rose Petal told them the story of Sleeping Beauty, and they all sang some songs. Then, all the girls gathered in the center, and Aurora finally made her appearance. She was gorgeous, and the girls were all so happy! They all danced with her, and then she came by each table to talk with the girls individually while we had some cake. We were also given some scrapbooking materials to take home with us. Now, this tea was RIDICULOUSLY expensive, but Julia had the time of her life, and it was so sweet to see how truly excited she was. And it was her birthday, after all… ;)

We (Me, DD 4, DH) are going to the tea party in November. I wanted to make a "princess dress" (not necessarily Sleeping Beauty) for my DD as opposed to a store bought dress. Would she feel more "in place" if she was in a dress to match Sleeping Beauty? Would she feel out of place in something different than everyone else?

We did this party in November 2006. We will probably not do it again because it is a "once in a lifetime" type of thing (and that is partially because it is so expensive.) My DD had just turned 4 at the time, and that was a great age. She really really enjoyed the storytelling and singing; she is a touch shy and didn't get a huge thrill out of being announced and such (but many girls there did!) The food was fine-- just tea party snacks, really-- you are not there for the food. We made that day a "resort day" so we had a relaxing morning at the hotel (we were at the Polynesian) then went to the tea, then went back to the hotel for lunch and more pool time before an evening at EPCOT. That worked well because the timing of the tea was kinda funky for a more typical park day.

DD went all out in her Belle finery, including wearing sparkly tights. I let her wear some sparkly eye shadow and lip gloss and we applied some sticker "jewels" to her cheeks. That was special because we generally reserve makeup play for Halloween and recital. DD was offered an Aurora dress but she preferred to wear her Belle dress (which had been her Halloween costume.) DH and I dressed up more than we usually do at Disney as well (a sundress for me and a nice golf shirt and slacks for DH.) That gave everything more of a sense of occassion. We also got some really pretty family pictures around the Grand Floridian's beach and lobby that day.

On of the highlights for our family was the fact that DH was one of the few men there-- the other daddy there was helping his wife with a little baby, so Rose Petal used my husband as the token male in her storytelling. That isn't really my DH's usual thing, so it was fun and special for all of us and we have PRICELESS video of him as Prince Philip slaying Maleficent with DD's autograph book as the Shield of Truth and her floofy-Ariel pen as the Sword of Virtue! (I took the video-- there was not a Disney photographer there, FYI so no Photopass.)

The gifts that they give the girls are nice-- the scrapbooking things are put away for now because DD isn't really into that yet, but she wore the bracelet all week at Disney and added several more charms to it during the week. She loves to wear it now as her special souvenir of the trip. It is not the sturdiest charm bracelet, but she likes it! Her "Princess Aurora" doll is a member of the family, and has been to show and share at school at least once a month! It is a good quality doll, not quite up to par with American Girl, but still very nice. We bought one extra outfit for her at the gift shop at the Grand Floridian and Santa brought more at Christmas. Her grandparents also got her clothes for Aurors for Christmas-- anything sold for American Girl will fit the doll and I also found some cute stuff at Target and on E Bay. (Aurora is wearing a Mets outfit right now and cannot change out of it because Beltran is hitting homers. My DD thinks that is because Aurors is wearing her Mets top; my DH is encouraging her. No one can convince me that baseball isn't a religious cult...)

My daughter liked it enough that she wants to recreate the experience for her birthday party this year-- she even asked her Aunt Charlotte (who is a lovely brunette like Rose Petal) to pretend to be Rose Petal and sprinkle everyone with rose petals and pixie dust...

Also-- this event has the lowest character- guest ratio of any we have attended. Aurora took a LONG time with my daughter as did Rose Petal (nevermind that she is character they have never seen before-- she is great and my DD loved her.) The little girls get up and dance around the room with Aurora! It is very sweet.

Thanks for the information, I made reservations to take DDs- 6 & 4, this will be kept as a surprise so I am very excited about that! Is the charm bracelet "costume" type jewlery, or is it nicer, sterling silver? Only asking because I was wanting to start up a Disney charm braceley for them and if this one is nice I won't have to buy one and I can buy more charms!!

What's the age minimum? I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. Depending on when we go, the 2 year old will either turn 3 while we are there or she'll have been 3 for about 4 months.

What is the cost? Is it per person? Can Dad stay back at the resort to save some $$?

can I ask if there were any older girls in attendance at the party? My eldest will be nine then-will she feel out of place?

I booked this for my oldest DD for our next trip. She will be almost 4. I know this sounds silly but would it be weird if I dressed up too with my DD? Yeah, I know- geeky Mom alert but she would love it and quite honestly so would I. What do you think?

I was informed that the age was 3-9, I made my reservations and I paid $200 for my DD6 and me, $135 for DD4, and $65 for DH (he wants to come) so it was $200 for each set of adult and girl. $400 for all of us...I do believe that the website says that the price went up recently, I just made the cut off. I was thinking about taking my niece who will be 1 and a half just for fun because I have 4 nephews going too, so I thought it could be the 3 girls doing this and have great photos of them all dressed up but when I tried to reserve for her I was told she would be free, she would get the same experience and food but not the doll, bracelet, tiara, rose, scrapbooking page, or anything else that comes with the Tea Party. If I wanted her to get all that I would have had to pay another $135. So yes uder 3 is free but the child doesn't get the extras that the other girls do. Dad can stay back at the room, you can reserve 1 adult and 2 or 3 children, however many are going, but my DH wouldn't miss his little princesses princess: experiencing this for the world! And to the mom who wants to dress up, I say go for it!!! I was just planning on wearing a nice dress and DH wearing a nice shirt and khakis, but I think it's great that you would do that for your daughter!!

I was in between if I was going to do this. My dh told me awhile back that we could go ahead and book it. I wasnt sure if I wanted to spend that amount on it though and she is booked for the wonderland tea party, however after reading this thread it really made me want to go so now I am going to call and book it for myself, dd and dh . It will be 300 for all three of us, but it will be an extra special event for the three of us to do together :)

Ugh! I wish the cm's could all get it straight! I asked if I could bring my DD who will be 6 months old since I will be nursing her etc. and they told me no kids under 3. On a side note - it was $265. for me and DD(3).

My youngest DD will be turning 3 on the day we leave. I wonder if they would let her do it.
