Seriously???????? Let the child pick whatever princess she wants. Are you concerned about what other people may think? Who cares? You're her mother and should be supportive of her choice--not to steer her into perceived "type".

I think it would be perfectly fine for your daughter to be any of the princesses, no matter what their race/ethnicity.

I see all different colors in each princess. So by your logic any Asia descendant girls can only be Mulan? Also at you saying my blonde, blue eyed DD can't dress as Tiana?? Seriously no one is going to say anything, all little girls can dream of being whatever princess they want!

I’m not sure I understand your concern here. Either that or I just don’t see one. The color of her skin or her type of hair really doesn’t matter for playing dress up, which is essentially what it is when girls wear princess dresses in the park. I’ve seen more Caucasian children dressed as Tiana honestly.

She’s going to look best if she is happy with what she is wearing. I don’t think you want to give her the idea that dressing as one of the other princesses isn’t okay because she has darker skin.

My daughter came from two black parents and she has worn a Cinderella dress, a Tiana dress and a Rapunzel dress. She has an Ariel outfit, you name it. When it comes to something like that, other than what you can afford, it is really about what the child wants.

I don't understand why she can't dress up as any princess? Her skin tone has nothing to do with her playing dress up.

I see no color when I see a princess. All little girls are princesses and can be who ever they want to be. I see girls of all backgrounds at the parks wearing all different kinds. Let her do what she wants cause that's what makes her happy.

My girls are very white but my 5 yr old wants to be Tiana and that is fine with me. They pick the princess cause they like the movie they don't see color.

She should dress like whichever princess she likes most (that day;)). My blond haired, green eyed DD loves Tiana and Belle the most and dresses up like them all the time. I wouldn't worry at all about which princess she might resemble the most physically. It's all about her feeling special. As an aside, I happen to like my DD's two favorites the best too. We talk about what a hard worker Tiana is and how she works to make her dreams of owning a restaurant come true. I like Belle because of her love of reading. Although I think my daughter just thinks they are the two prettiest princesses. :)

She is just a little girl! Let her be whatever she wants to be! Sheesh..

I get your concerns, to an extent, but my daughter was a beautiful Brown Belle on our cruise and Aurora at WDW. I do draw the line with the wigs though; but let her pick her own dresses. My daughter changes her mind about her "favorite" every month or so anyway.

Are you wanting her to look exactly like a character or have the best experience she could possible have?

I vote for dream experience myself and say let her wear whatever her little heart desires. I'm sure you'll find you are having more of an issue with it than anyone else will.

It deeply saddens me that in this world of cultural diversity that this would even come into anyone's mind as a possible concern. My VERY STRONG suggestion would be to stop and think about the message you are sending your young and impressionable daughter!!!! In this world where girls self esteme and self worth are attacked at every corner the absolute LAST place she should get it is from HER OWN MOTHER!!!

I say shut up and go hug your daughter and tell her that she is beautiful and can dress up like any princess she wants. That is unless your goal in life is to kill her self esteme and start the self worth issues young in life.

I feel very sorry for your daughter!:sad2:

My (very blonde blues eyed) 10 yr old Loves Tiana, she is a strong independent role model for all girls, she wants to be her for MNSSHP if we can find her a dress she would be thrilled. Would someone think badly of that? I don't know or care she will be happy and beautiful. Do what your daughter wants, I am sure she will be beaming with happiness and pride whatever she wears.

My guess is the only one who is concerned about this is you. When I went to Disneyland no one made any rude comments about any of the little girls in princess dresses. Let your daughter pick her own costume. She will shine as that princess.

Your daughter will look absolutely beautiful dressed at whatever princess she chooses and no one will say otherwise.
