I have been following this rumors board for about two years now, and in that time, I don't think that I can recall many - if any - announcements that hit this board as "rumor" first. Every big thing that I recall was announced by Disney without word leaking out.

That wasn't meant to disparage this board, only to point out that Disney is pretty darn good at keeping the lid on things.

Anyone can spread rumors - we prefer to spread fact-based, flame-free rumors on this forum:flower3:

Or you're not reading the correct sites for rumors

I don't know about that...the entire universe knew that the construction at the Contemporary was a DVC resort long before Disney even acknowledged that anything was actually being done there...

Agreed on the Contemporary thing. That cat was out of the bag for a while.

People leaked the Fantasyland expansion well before the announcement...granted we didnt know it all...but we knew it was being done...

another rumor was the Main Street Electrical Parade returning to WDW and that the Summer fireworks would be a close cousin of the Pirates/Princess fireworks...

Things are rumored all the time...the challenge is deciphering fact from fiction... BUT I will also admit Disney is good at being tight lipped in general...which shows they have a great group working there!!

.

I agree,
Fantasyland expansion was planned a long time ago but cancelled and then brought back.

DVC planned for all the delux resorts was planned a long time ago, Contemporary just got theirs later.

I'm pretty sure Disney let the cat out of the bag and two years later these seeded thoughts were posted.

I'm still waiting for the WDW 5th gate RollerCoaster Kingdom.

What is this??? Sounds fun!

Rumored 5th park....I want Villain Kingdom myself!;)

Disney has always been on top of secrets.....you don't get that much real estate that cheap without people like Donn Tatum running M.T. Lott Real Estate Investments! That's why he still has an office on Main Street!:thumbsup2

As a former Cast Memeber that worked in reservations...I used to come here to find out about my job cause the DISBoards are in the KNOW!!!! I would say that 95% of the stuff I read about here was correct!!

I have an idea about a book I might write.....my time spent in Disney reservations and the not so magical place it is behind the red carpet

:)

I actually disagree. Of the many things floating around, the only thing that was COMPLETELY tight lipped, that actually surprised not only the DIS but the rest of the internet, was the Marvel acquisition.

The whole summer night tastic thing was on the net before announcement
BLT as has been mentioned
There had been rumors for a while before PI closed
Before they announced the Princess Dianna exhibit, it was here
Before they announced the closing of virgin, it was here
Before they announced the domestic theme park tkt, it was here

I don't find they are good at keeping secrets at all. Marvel was their best kept one(despite what DVC says LOL)

Which is why I believe they have no plans for PI, cuz if they did, they would have been leaked by now. But that's another story.

This board is usually a day or 2 behind another forum I visit though, so that could be part of your perception.

I'd read the book:hyper:. But it's not always so magical in FRONT of the red carpet either. Perhaps a disgruntled guest could write a chapter;)

:lmao:

(Don't let this rumor spread into other forums.)

And the "Ayefour Corporation".

I firmly believe Disney intentionally leaks information to get folks on the internet talking before it's formally announced. This builds interest and has an immediate impact when those int he know for the rumors finally get the truth. Notice that not everything was leaked, just the main story of most of the above listed items. Why? To peak interest and get fans and guests speculating. This furthers the interest and helps build up for the announcement.

I think the "leaks" are all part of their plan...

I agree that Disney leaks ideas. I've even heard that they have a special division that handles that. I try to pay close attention to all rumors no matter how wild they may seem. Also, the Villain park was suppose to be called Shadowlands or Dark Kingdom.:wizard:

roller coaster kingdom.

I heard this well founded and obviously true "rumor" from a charter bus driver around 1998.

It was quite conveinient as parks all over the US were buidling coasters like mad.

But Disney has always aimed to build things that are enjoyable for the family together. A park for teens as it was said that RCK would be filling that void isn't fun for everyone.

Further this rumor was pitiful because it assumed that the park would be full of about 15 coasters which is you multiply the cost of RRC or EE by 15 that's an awefully expensive park or a really plain cheaply done one.
