Disney Premier Visa card- anyone upgrading?

I'm loving this 5% period. :woohoo: Everytime I go buy groceries or buy gas, I'm mentally calculating "Another 3. . .no. . .4 dollars for Disney!"

I've even calculated out what, on average, we charge in food and gas on a monthly basis, just to have some ballpark on what I'll have in rewards for Disney in 2013. (Can't go in 2012. Both DH and I have Entirely. Too. Much. Work.)

Hmm. . .just realized, maybe DH is right and overplan a bit much?

Nah. . .

You charged $16,267.00 in selected categories in one month? Nice.

LOL! I believe they are still within their 5% back period for the first few months. Those who upgraded from the regular card to the premier card get 90 days of an extra 3% in the select categories.:thumbsup2

I just got off the phone with a Customer Service Manager with the Premier Visa. The 3% bonus section is NOT working correctly. This is easy math, since Chase breaks out the 2% categories that qualify. If you add up all the 2% rewards, divide by 2 and then multiply by 3. The result should be your bonus rewards. The Manager (ask for a manager because the first person to answer could not handle my problem) indicated many people are calling in because the computer is not calculating the bonus correctly on some statements.

2% reward Gross $ spent bonus reward 3%
gas 1.09 $54.50 $1.64
grocery 34.42 $1,721.00 $51.63
restaurants 8.76 $438.00 $13.14

amount of bonus reward calcualted $66.41
amount credited on stmt $(43.20)

additional bonus rewards needed $23.21

The manager corrected after being on the phone for 1/2 hour!!! Please check your statements and check the calculations to make sure you are getting all the dollars you earn!

Thanks for posting this, jpittore.
I've called twice. First my bonus points weren't showing up at all (& they told me they wouldn't show up until after the 3 month promotion - which I knew wasn't true).
So I called back again when the points showed on my statement, but didn't add up correctly and got nowhere.
Thanks to you, I'll call again tomorrow and ask to speak to a manager.

So how can you see the gross $ spent in each category?

This is my summary:

2% earn - purchases at Disney locations 41.43
2% earn - purchases at gas stations 1.13
2% earn - purchases at grocery stores 15.26
2% earn - purchases at restaurants 4.38
1% earn - all other purchases 38.52
Bonus reward dollars offers 88.81

I calculate that my bonus reward dollars should be $93.30

Does that look right??

I have just upgraded too and am wondering if I purchase Disney gift cards at the Disney Store would that be eligible for the 5%? I am excited to start earning bonus reward points, this is the one kind of math that I don't mind doing!

I'll keep my card and use my Discover Card also.

Disney at 1% is for everyday.

Discover is 5% on the "bonus" of the month to like $300 and then I use it for up to 20% on preferred vendors.

Would love to move up but if I grocery shop with my card I use Wal Mart and they are not classified as a grocery store. Also my bank won't allow me to pay with a credit card. If I could pay my house with a credit card then I'd switch.

Would be interested in this as well.

So it looks like using the formula above I should have gotten $174.25 in bonus rewards.

90.03 Disney locations
4.08 gas stations
8.94 grocery stores
13.12 restaurants

Is this correct? If so I guess I need to call them today.

Can someone explain why you divide by 2? Not very good with math :)

Did your rep change the amounts while you were on the phone???

Ugh...I just got off the phone with Chase and the first person I talked to said they would have it looked at and send me a letter with the results. I was feeling uneasy about that so I called back and asked for a manager. He said that he could see where the first rep wrote up the concern and that their marketing people would look at it and send me a explaination of what they found in 7-10 business days. That is going to seem like forever. Ugh... was hoping for an automatic fix. Boo!:sad2:

ETA: just saw your question starwood... you divide your 2% lines by two to see what 1% is equal to. Then you multiply that 1% by 3 to get your bonus 3% total. Does that make sense? The poor rep at Chase thought I was making up my own type of math. lol She just wan't getting it. :sad2:

I sent them an inquire on the website so I'll see what happens. I just didn't want to have to explain it to someone who doesn't get it when I don't "get it" myself.

Hi - Does it show The amount associated with Gas, Groceries, etc? Mine does not.

I have this:
2% earn - purchases at gas stations 6.26
2% earn - purchases at grocery stores 7.53
2% earn - purchases at restaurants 0.70
1% earn - all other purchases 10.65
Bonus reward dollars offers 20.89

This is from last months statement which is when I upgraded so this is pro-rated I'm sure, however , I do not see any Gas , Grocery breakdown in dollar amounts anywhere.

No...but you can find the total you spent for each category by dividing the 2% amount by .02, so for your gas station purchases you spent $313 total. The rep I talked to this morning was trying to tell me that maybe the items in my 2% categories weren't all eligible for the bonus 3%, but then we both agreed that I wouldn't have gotten 2% on those purchases if they were not eligible in the first place. :confused3

You would need to go back and manually add up your dollar amounts to make sure your 2% amounts are correct if you want to, but that hasn't been the issue. THe issue has been the calculated bonus rewards dollars, which should be all of your 2% amounts times 1.5. Yours seems right.

His 3% rewards should be $21.74, so it is off just a little.
